Saturday, May 25, 2013 - Willamette Valley for Memorial day weekend and a peak at 2012; 5/25/2013-5/26/2013: This has headed down hill in the last few years, as have other 2009's I've had from hot sites. The aromas here are dark, slightly stewed, with light bits of minerality. The palate is soft, showing steamy dried fruits and a nice texture. Unfortunately it's also really spicy and hot due to the alcohol. Good dark fruit on the finish with some tartness, but again the alcohol totally gets away from this one and pulls the other elements out of balance.

5/29/2013 5:58:00 AM - Interesting perspective on the wine and how it's changed since your May 2011 tasting note. I'm surprised it's gone down hill as quickly as it appears. It really makes one reconsider that 2012 - 2019 drinking window!
