Saturday, September 13, 2014 - In looking at the last 3 notes below, all 3 talk about the acidity, 2 about how the acidity is lessening. This isn't the case in the bottle I just opened and poured to my glass. There is indeed acidity so not sure what's driving the difference in opinion about the acidity but it's one of the intriguing things I find in how the same wine (bottle variation aside) can appear different for tasters. For context, I have this wine chilled and my palate is clear, no food (yet) with this wine. As I said in my summer 2013, this is such a great drink of chenin. This bottle shows a couple of flavor markers that I didn't call out last time so either age is adjusting the wine or may palate is sensing different things today. Pineapple, green banana, lime, a squeeze of honey and still good mineral and acidity. Inside of all this is some sweetness but it's lower register and offset by the other flavors I mention, mainly the lime. It's just frigging hot here in Orange County this weekend and I look forward to having more of this later by a pool and some good conversation and bbq'd salmon. Drink window? No fade here, just pushing right along.
