Friday, February 24, 2012 - Has mellowed down since last hit in 2009 and is now, much to my pleasant surprise, drinking really well. There is plenty of sweet, spicy cherry fruit on the nose and palate but it comes across less pushed and extracted than a few years ago. The wine is soft and gentle with a perfume of lavender on the back end of the palate. The acidity keeps the wine decently fresh. I've always been worried about how the wines from Janasse would age and this bottle provides a glimmer of hope.
