Saturday, May 5, 2018 - Decanted prior to a dinner of grilled rack of lamb.

Clear, medium ruby color, youthful hue, no signs of bricking at 13+ years. Developing aromatics with medium plus intensity notes of blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, red plum, toasty cedar, light baking spice, some smokiness, green bell pepper, and forest floor. Quite a bit of aromatic complexity. Dry on the palate. Medium plus flavors of ripe blackberry, smokey black cherry, juicy blueberry, sweet, spicy red plum, dark chocolate, green bell pepper, leafy tobacco, and chewy cedar mulch. Medium alcohol and medium body. Fine grained medium plus tannin and medium plus acidity support a very long finish. An outstanding wine which hit all the right notes: complexity, intensity and depth, great balance and lots of length. Can drink now may be suitable for further aging. Still has lots and lots of life. Perfect accompaniment to the grilled lamb.
