95 Points

Saturday, July 31, 2021 - 1st of 24, opened 4 hours, decanted 45 minutes, perfect cork and level - glossy dark ruby, purple edged, leggy; fruity nose, cassis and bramble, some tobacco, attractive and complex if less so than usual for LLC and less so than Margaux 02 on same night; medium bodied, excellent line and length if without concentration of top vintage, fruit hiding attractive fine grained tannic structure, balanced, refreshing sweet core, enough umpff to develop well and gain more secondaries, early days but remarkably accessible for LLC of this age. VF (18.5).........better drink on night than Margaux 02 but both should be more interesting in 10 to 20 years time and thanks to DJH's excellent note below prompting me to pull my first bottle! (Bit reminiscent in style to the currently outstanding 85 after 15 years!)
