Overture has been made since 1993 and was only marketed at the winery.

Michael Salachi is the wine maker (sp?) and he's been making wine for over 30 years. Trained in Davis and Bordeaux. Hired here in 2001 and took over the program in 2003. And I guess they went through a substantial amount of replanting. About 1/3 is biodynamic. THey harvest only first growth fruit, and they use an optical sorter as well. They do three pressings. 30 years ago they did 6 pressing. But most of this wasn't used anyway. Around '93 is when they stopped blending this away and it became a gift to the employees. And I guess this is what became Overture. So now its about 10% of the three pressings and blended together, usually the previous three vintages. Stored in stainless steel after the oak treatment. The very small number on the back 8-8-16 on this bottle - is when it was bottled. Which would meaning this would 14-13-12 vintages. Its all five grapes and almost always 80-95% Cabernet. ANd there isn't much of it.

This smells allot like wood. Chocolate chips. Baked chocolate. I am being told its slightly more rustic than Opus One, and doesn't age as well. Maybe 6-8 years I am being told. And rich on the palate, rounded, long, mineral, and still hangs onto with the wood.
