Sunday, November 14, 2021 - Second Sunday Group: 1990 Burgundies (Neil's): Decanted about three hours before going back into bottle before leaving for the tasting. It had been about six hours from the time the cork was pulled to being served with dinner. This bottle was a blend of the 2016 and 2017 vintages, comprised 91% cab sauv, 4% petit verdot, 3% merlot & 2% cab franc. Aromas of cassis, black currant, violets and cherry. Very pretty and refined, bordering on elegant. Full-bodied and clearly young, but well-balanced, showing black fruit and violet liqueur qualities. Lingering finish with black fruit and barrel spice elements. 92-93+ pts.
