Saturday, May 14, 2011 - Ran through a Vinturi into a decanter, then a vigorous shake for 20-30 seconds. Seemed to open the wine up nicely, at least on the palate. Nose is relatively subdued, but after significant coaxing, a perfumed presence of red fruit, mint/spearmint, spice and wood. On the palate, relatively full-bodied as compared to most other Chianti I've had. Dark fruit against balancing acidity in good proportion. Supporting oak is nicely balanced. A hint of resin and mocha. Some fine tannins on the finish. Potential to be several points higher in 3-5 years.
