Friday, December 29, 2017 - We found this gem at a nice restaurant in a small italian village for 40% less than what you would pay retail these days. Had two bottles with consistent quality. Fully resolved tannins, smooth and silky texture and a fresh acidity. With some time in the glass a beautiful barnyard, forest floor and black truffle smell became dominant on the nose with intense dark fruit underneath. Very powerful palate with just hints of chocolate and herbs adding to the forest floor and dark fruit aromas. An intensifying long and sweet dark fruit/berries finish. These bottles were drinking very well right from the get-go (no decant needed) but I'm not sure how they were stored in the past few years. They were too warm and we had to cool them down before drinking. Hence, there is a possibility that they were stored in a too warm environment for some years and our wine was more mature than bottles from a perfect cellars would be today. 95++ points.
