This was surprisingly similar to the bottle I drank 4 years ago. Decanted and drank over a few hours, smoky, dark berries, fruity. Seems to have plenty of time left

Very strong nose. Decanted for 30 minutes before tasting. Vanilla, cherry, dark red fruits. So tannic that it has a light texture in the mouth. Medium-full bodied, smooth length

Deep crimson; prunes, black cherries, wood smoke, tar; pruney, dried cherry, herbal, medium-full body, tangy acidity, astringent tannins, decent finish. Still youthful with firm tannins, needed coaxing to reveal the fruit. Good wine technically but lacking the "joie de vivre" that would make me want to buy it again.

P&P. Medium-dark ruby. Wood, smoke, spice, red fruits, hint of caramel and herbaceousness. Tannins quite firm at the outset but smoothed out over time in the glass. Full bodied, 14% alcohol, XD (3g/L). Some funkiness that comes and goes. Day 2, no change. Drinkable, but disappointing.

Oddly youthful for a 2005, with blackberries and some sweet spice on the nose. Still primary on the palate; good freshness. May have spent a while in tank to retard its evolution - I expected more maturity and complexity. Needs another 5+ years in the bottle. 3/5

purple blue with medium plus viscosity. notes of blue berries, violets, forest floor. palate followed nose. cooking spice on retro-nasal. balanced, full bodied. For $20 this was really good value. Probably better than the 2001 grand reserve!

Nose of blackberry and spice. Flavour is fruity blackberry at first, with some plum and tartness in the finish. Smooth and medium bodied.

Currant, tar and vanilla nose with a mineral and petrol note. Well balanced with good flavour replays; dry and spiced finish.

4/5 - Smooth and well integrated, tannins aren't very noticeable, with berry and smoky aromas.

Fantastic QPR for $21 Canadian. Scored 90 or even a 91.

Nice enough wine, but not nearly as complex and beautiful as 2001 Reserva.
