Opened, not decanted for about 4 hours. Tonight this was extraordinary, with a very expressive nose of kirsch, tar, earth, Asian spice and damp, brambly underbrush. The flavors on the palate mirrored the nose and were rich, deep and penetrating in a fairly rustic format with anise and leather notes creeping in on the long, satisfying finish. Just delicious and, sadly, my last bottle. I wish I had more because I think this still has a very long life ahead of it.

I remember this wine being characterized as a brooding monster when I first acquired 6 bots. Opened my first of them 7 years later and the brooding monster has resolved into a velvet glove. Super soft tannin, kirsch and cherries and red berries swirl in the glass and no unpleasant trace of the 14.2% alcohol. Very glad I waited and so worth the wait. Drinking beautifully now. Wish I purchased more.

Rich penetrating aromas of kirsch liqueur , sous bois, Asian spice, floral notes, some black tea and a subtle hint of white pepper, all of which carry through to the palate, which, tonight, is much softer and rounder than it was two years ago when I last tasted this wine. The finish was abit clipped today and leaving me wishing for more. But all in all, this was quite nice and in a very good place after a couple of hours of double decanting.

Second times after drinking 3 years ago deep dark red solid. Body packed full details. Dried rose scent. Mix berry leather comes softly. Great development as well not sweet to the vintage. Big round plump delicious drink, but not with another 3-5 years.

Knightsbridge's Burgundy Tasting (Knightsbridge, Northbrook IL): nose: exotic and tart nose filled with asian and jerk spices, dark red cherries, blackberries, earth, and some bits of brown spices too with a touch of sour berries. Good depth and robust on the nose and a bit tight too
taste: youthful and powerful with big tannins and medium+ acidity along with rich tones of dark berries, exotic spices, dark red cherries, and bits of earth tones
overall: very young and needs a good amount of time. Powerful and very rich, this could be a real interesting clos vougeot in a good 8-10 years. The bigness isn't over the top as it still retains a burgundy sensibility to it, but being a amped up version

Next to the 89 Leroy this was a bruiser, but in a good way. Big, bold ripe fruit comes right out of the gate, cherries and berries. The aromatics kept me coming back for more with their hints at spice and earthiness. Pleasurable in a decadent sort of way even if it wasnt incredibly complex. Not a contemplative wine but rather sheer enjoyment.

Medium dark fruit. Very lush and concentrated with fantastic tannins. Slightly drying in the mouth the tannins will carry this very ripe wine for a long time. Great fruit hiding underneath.

From magnum: Dark, plush, full bodied, nice sweet pinot fruit and a load of sweet oak too. A bit too close to rioja for my liking.

2003 Burgundy Grand Cru: Like on the nose slightly red flowers, woody with powerful acidic palate. Lasting firm finish sweetness on palate.

Needed about 3 hours in the decanter to open. Deep rich red and dark fruit with spice notes and sous bois. Firm, masculine style. Very nice.
