Decanted for about an hour ahead of time. Pristine cork with minimal soakage. Moderate amount of smoky sediment in the bottle. Deep ruby red with a garnet rim. Fully mature, savoury, almost gamey, nose of bramble berry, iodine, compost and just a hint of bell pepper. Medium-full bodied, uber dry, almost puckery tannin and acidy combo, long legs and somewhat astringently dried fruit extract. Dried and dusty brambly red fruit, red plum with the skins and stems, chalky tannins, some bell pepper and cedar bark. Decent showing, and still alive and enjoyable with food, but past its prime and needing to be drunk up.

Love this wine. Need to buy several vintages like I did with this wine. Drank last in 2013, and has it ever blossomed. Tannins tamed down, secondary flavours have developed and the acidity and fruit have held up. Notes of cassis, cedar and dark chocolate. Have one more bottle and will hold for another 3-5 years.

Lots of cherries and blueberries in the nose. On the palate ripe blackberries, dark cherries and plum. Medium+ bodied with a medium- acidity. Fruit driven body, soft and silky tannins. Good structure, medium - complexity. Medium long and juicy finish. Still in a very nice drinking spot, not much aging signs yet. Feels very round.

What a special bottle of wine, BCs finest IMHO! Intense dark fruit flavours on the nose and palate. Love the dirt flavour and rough leather with barnyard on the palate. Long, sumptuous finish! As always, a great drop of wine with a successful partnership between BC and France.

Double decanted, drunk about two hours later. Still deep ruby. Lots of bright red and black fruits. Blackcurrant, redcurrant and plum mainly. Bits of wood and spice. Good acidity, medium length. Mouth filling but with some balance, finesse. Really good wine, and its own style. Kind of mid way between Cali and Bdx if you wish.

Seriously closed off at first opening - one taster said it was like someone had swirled a sagebrush branch in some cold black tea. Not promising... and then 30-40 mins later this was back with such elegance and depth. Obviously not a cocktailing wine but a seriously good, old world style red that paired well with grilled tomahawk ribeyes. Stood up well next both to a '02 Insignia and a '08 Maestoso. A treat to share on BC Day Weekend.

Nice dark ruby colour. Pure nose of black currant, boysenberry, plum, cedar and tobacco. First taste impression is that it is very, very dry. Medium bodied, fruit is ripe but buried in the background, but then it comes out on the flavour replays on the finish. Good acidity. Seems well made but overall lacking a bit in fruit intensity. Just OK.

After my first bottle was so tannic and tart, I decided to wait several years before opening my second one. I’m afraid age didn’t help much. Opening this wine it gives me the sense of fresh squeezed pomegranate juice if I squeezed the entire pomegranate, rind and all. It’s terrible bitter and tart. There are some good flavors in there but they are unbalanced and unintegrated. Not a fan. For all of you who scored this so high, I guess you like this style wine or maybe you’re giving it a 10 point bump for being a product of BC. For me, I won’t be buying another bottle of BC red wine, because apparantly this is a good one, and I really dislike it. I dumped my bottles down the drain.
Deep scarlet red with a maroon core. Medium full bodied. Widely separated slow legs. Nose of dusty dried red berries. Red currant, Bing cherries, red plums all quite rich and deep. Hint of leather. Palate medium weight, quite dry with tart fruit. More dusty dry red fruits. A bit oaky. Moderately long tart and dry finish. Overall OK. Wanted more flavour based on the nose.

Polished mahogany colour - deep burgundy with hints of chocolate and dried blood. Big cassis on the nose with a touch of mint; also a burnt note; plummy but with a curious dustiness - like blackcurrant powder. Lots of blackcurrant flavour. Initially very juicy then fades to a drier black fruit taste, but with little remaining tannic structure. A dry, slightly sour finish - cherries and some remaining cassis. Later, the finish becomes more spicy and also more balanced.

Nicely mature Canadian take on a Bordeaux blend. Ruby bordering on garnet red colour. Medium full bodied. Typical OL nose and palate of cedar, bramble, boysenberry, dried red berries, buckskin and a touch of spice (cloves?). Very smooth, nicely balanced, a bit of unresolved tannins still on the finish. Dry with a medium long finish. Well made. Still has some stuffing left in it to last maybe another 3 to 5 years but not enough fruit to last much past that. A good start to the vacation! Served with BBQ steak & frites with mixed yellow & green beans.

Brought this wine back from Vancouver and have had it in the cellar for about two years. This is a light Red Cabernet with lots of seed tannins. It really taste like a Beaujolais that you ran through cheese cloth with a crushed pomegranate. The fruit is very red and forward with astrid tannins that leave almost an alum taste on the tongue in the finish which sucks any life out of the fruit finish. We dumped it, so I think my 78 is fairly gracious to call this "average". We didn't even cook with it.

This wine still needs some time in the bottle. Nice fruit, and some secondary flavors there, but could not get over the big tannins to appreciate them. Kept half the bottle for next day, will see if the additional decanting time will make this more approachable.

Dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium(+) ripe tannins, medium(+) body and medium alcohol. Medium(+) flavors of cherries, red berries, coffee, white pepper. Rich and complex palate with ripe tannins providing balance. Great length, concentrated dry finish, excellent accompaniment to bison steak with mushrooms.

Blend of 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, and 3% Petit Verdot. Fruity aromas jump out of the glass, followed by leather, cedar, kirsch liquer and raspberry. Core of dark fruits surrounded by very chalky tannins. Well-balanced with mouth-watering acidity. Finish is long with hints of mocha. Should be even better once tannins settle in 3+ years.

Clear dark purple in colour. Clean nose of black fruit and spice. Dry, med acidity, med+ tannin, med body, cassis, violet, vanilla and some earthy notes on palate. Not bad finish. Definitely right bank bordeaux influenced. The merlot influence was there in fruit. Some nice tannins that will keep this wine for a while. Nice fruit as well. This will definitely get better in 5 years time. I like where they are going with this wine. I am glad I have a number of these to age.
