Many might say that this wine should never have been released from the winery, but who would have known how it would turn out to be back at that time. However, now we see this wine to be hot raisons, dusty floors and a strange sense of what pinot noir should taste like.

More sweet than sauve, rich or dense, this wine did not please the ladies. The nose is much too hot and the palate a bit thin - a watered down version, too simple for what it should be. It is palatable for sure but won't ever be a great wine.

Very well-made and balanced wine; just a little heat seems to pop through on the finish along with the slightest aspect of 'stewed fruit'. Enjoyable overall, though -- incredibly smooth and seemingly in a nice place in its evolution.

I don't know if this is a better bottle or if it's come together more in the last six months but this impressed more than the last one. More complexity on the nose; still fruit-forward but with more earthiness. And good presence on the palate.

Deep ruby color. Sort of a tutti-frutti nose, with elements of pear, red fruit, watermelon, earth. Some roasted notes. On the palate it's medium bodied, low acid with ripe tannins. Fruit forward.

Splash decanted. Not roasted in any way - delicious with tenderloin beef. Very earthy/soily, part of the reason I enjoyed this so much. Tons of ripe raspberry fruit to accompany the mineral/earth notes and for a 2003, doesnt show any overbearing surliness by any stretch. In fact, for now anyway, there's nice structure throughout - and I see no reason why this won't be amazing 10-15 years from now, too.

Drinking well now with food. Beautiful wine, big and expansive, and fruit forward. I know I am suppose to let them age, but how can I when they are this yummy now?

Had this following the '04 Coche. A big let down. First bottle was mildly corked, so we opened another, which was not corked, but honestly wasn't much better. This wine was certainly big, as would be expected from the vintage. Dark brooding purple in the decanter. Spicy dark fruit with hints of wood. The palate retained a bitter element that I didn't really like. Will these round out over time or with a longer decant? I'm not willing to wait and see...

Underrated vintage chez Roumier, very good to drink now showing some warmness but generally good lacy fruit and lots of Morey character. 92

Deep perfume of rose petals. Tea leaves, dark berries and some raspberry and plummy notes. Good structure and soft tannins. drinking pretty well.

Vosne Romanee vs Chambolle Musigny (Zeffir): Deep dark fruit, menthol, spice on the nose. Sweet, silky, plum and dried prune, artificial sweetness.

Lush ripe nose, good attempt to bring into balance for the vintage but still some roasted notes, smooth, rich, long finish. Lovely still.
