Second of three for the poker gang. This followed an 02 Quilceda Creek. Way more old school and old world. Way way way more my style.
Hence exceedingly more contemplative and interesting vs the new world punch in the face.
Got better as it breathed over an hour or so. Gamey, barnyard old world funk. In a great drinking window and possibly starting on the decline side of its life relatively soon. I'd say drink up! However, will probably hang on several years.
I prefer to give grenache 1-3 hour decant and will certainly do so on next bottle, but with 6 or so people drinking wine this didn't last long.

Wow at first the color was a little darker like an old world French style wine. The nose was beautiful very subtle with hints of violet and berry Tannins are getting softer but lovely on the back pallet. Delicious finish. Drinking very well right now.

No notes taken. This showed well with lots of fine tertiary aromas wrapped around a fruit core, which slowly drifts into the dried spectrum. Medium complex with fairly good precision but overall not my favorite aroma profile. The structure held up will with molten tannins, good tension and a well-integrated medium acidity. The texture is creamy and the wine shows good length. 92/93 pts.

Dark purple. Dry earth overtones on the bouquet. Dark fruit, nice acidity, some complexity, but a short and rather harsh finish. Might improve with a bit more time.

Dark ruby, purple, overripe red and purple berries, a hint of sweetness (residual sugar ?) that gave this wine a port-like taste, w some heat as well - not my favorite style of wine. 92.

Sublime. Gave an afternoon of air. Deep red/purple in the glass. Nose of light funk, minerals, earth, and dark fruits. Smooth and rich in the mouth. Palate of wood, light floral notes, and dusty stone, all with a rich berries overlay. More full and jammy in the mouth than expected, but so well balanced and elegant. PJG: 93

I would describe this wine as plush. Maybe a little young, but wonderful. The wine looks Inky colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Dust, and Mineral. It tastes like Black Pepper, Dust, Flint, Black currant (cassis), and Fig. The body is Full. The wine has Fleshy texture. The wine finishes Medium.

A little more age has not changed this bottle much. It still has those acidic black cherries. Some port like aromas are sneaking in but all I taste is the tart cherries. The tannins are still firm and this certainly has many more years in it.

Brought to Bourbon Steak This was very late in the night and it had already been open by the sommelier. I would have guessed zin. Not rating as it was a blur.

Decanted for an hour using a Venturi. Even so, the wine improved over the evening. Aromas were more mature and less fruit forward. Tannins were in balance and the wine was medium-to-full bodied. Flavors were also more mature and complex with tannins well integrated and balanced.

Outstanding wine. Probably should have decanted it for an hour before consuming. Should be good for a few more years.

Very nice wine, a bit of sediment so decant. Alcohol has integrated well and over this was well liked by wine nerds and non non nerds alike

Light and well balanced. Prune, acidic cherries. Good bite on the finish. There is no comparison between this and the '05.
