At first there is burnt rubber and reduction but these flavours iron themselves out after a couple of hours in the glass to reveal a delightful bouquet of raspberries on a bed of decomposing leaves. No little creaminess on the palate which shows demure berry fruits and mocha over crunchy earthy notes and smoky charcuterie. This has lovely proportions and good acidic grip. Paired beautifully with roast squash, ricotta and pine nut ravioli.

A little fizzy and funky at first but fine one hour later. Has a nice strawberry compote flavour with a little five spice on the end. The first of the case to show some evolution. Nicely balanced. Perfect for BR.

Our first 90 point bourgogne. A haunting wine, dark and brooding, purply and opaque. Nose of sous-bois and lavender. Gorgeous rounded palate, finish of woodland ferns?, mushrooms?

Delicious entry level Burgundy. Nose filled with ripe cherries and cranberry, barnyard, animale, and iron. The palate is really nicely balanced and still fresh with lots of red fruit and savory hints. The finish is very good and leaves a lingering hint of cherry. This is a really nice example of Nuits-St. George styled wine at a great QPR. I love this style of wine and its very hard to find stuff this good at this price these days.

This bottle had a fair amount more reduction than prior bottles. After about an hour it blew off somewhat to reveal some cherry, lots of earth and barnyard notes. The palate is still very vibrant and pleasant with red pinot fruit, minerality, and earth. Finishes well. The other bottles I've had have been better due to the reduction on this, but I still think its a great value burgundy that gives some intro into some classic Nuits scents and flavors.

Garnet with notes of cherry, barnyard, and baking spice. Palate is well balanced and finishes well. This is very very good for Bourgogne and offers a hint of what Burgundy can offer at a good price.

Really nice burg. Reminds me of an '09 Faiveley Clos des Myglands from a few months ago....a burg fit for a Cali pinot drinker. This is ripe and fairly soft with a palate and nose shading towards darker fruits. Finishes with oomph and tart tannin. When I bought this, the shelf-talker said it was a nice intro to the Gouges house style....completely non-obvious to me from this bottle what that style is.

Steeply priced for a Bourgogne but delicious nonetheless. Ripe nose with lots of cherries and cranberries, and a nicely defined layer of spice underneath that, not overwhelmingly sweet or jammy, friendly and elegant. Palate is similar, with nice depth and some earth, still dominated by young fruit, very slightly tannic. Very fresh, delicious right now for it's fruit, but I can also imagine opening this in a couple of years.

Relatively straightforward Bourgogne, earth and spice notes, not convinced of the value at $30+ . . .
