Immensely perfumed nose with ripe, enticing black and red fruit and earth, earth, earth.
On the palate this is positively voluptuous with a bit of oak, a bit of age but still with some beautiful freshness that puts everything in balance that makes this a joy to drink.
Having had the pleasure of drinking a bottle of Geoffroy's 2007 Mazis a month ago--which was amazing--I must say I think this surpasses that. Amazing for $49.

The nose on this is powerful and complex with floral and earthy notes. On the palate this shows leather, a bit of oak, and some age comes through nicely. This really is a solid example of how great a village wine can be with a bit of age, and it leaves me wanting for nothing more.

Ripe berry and resinous, slightly tarry oak, or is it the thick richness of the fruit. Definitely syrupy! Maybe needs a touch more time for the oak to integrate, but full powered village wine.

This is pretty darn killer. Rich, full bodied, right in the pocket with power. Chug-a-able. And that makes for awesome Burgundy. And look at the price tag!

This was fantastic, with a big but not candied nose of ripe dark red and purple cherries and Gevrey earth. Ripe and mouth-coating tannins on the palate, with rich and concentrated primary fruit flavors. It finishes long and balanced, with nice acid that keeps the fruit in check. This is remarkable and surprisingly complex for its level and speaks of its terroir and vintage. Boxes above its weight -- blind, I would have thought this was premier cru juice.
Just so interesting seeing how some of these 2009s have lost their candied cloying edge over the last 6-12 months and are so approachable now compared to the 2005s (as I recall) that were so massive and concentrated and were shutting down at this point in their evolution. I don't think the 2009s will ever go to sleep.

Color: Opaque red. Nose: Cola and crystallized red fruits. Palate: Very good structure with some brisk acidity. The fruit is lean and the finish short. I am not sure what I was expecting but I was disappointed at this price point. AlthoughI will not purchase anymore of this particular wine, I do look forward to trying some of the other Harmond-Geoffroy's wines in the cellar.

Hmm, a touch of sulfur. And some spritz too. Maybe it will call down.
