Decent Pinot doing well with time, which says a lot. They have always blended Sonoma and CC fruit with the Clarksburg to make it affordable and well as tasty. Great value then and the current vintage. Near end of drinking window. From a one of their growers cellar, he purchased direct from the winery.

Decent Pinot noir for the price range; on the lighter side and with strawberries showing on the nose and palate. For some reason this wine gave me some really bad headaches.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB; California (by MdW): Creamy red fruits in the bouquet. Not really complex. On the palate mainly the same. Cherries and mainly red berries. Fairly full bodied, ok acidity and sweetness. Soft tannin with still some bite. Ok fairly basic wine.

My rating reflects the price point. I believe Bogle makes some of the better wines in the $9-13 price range, and they deserve credit for doing so. However, I have yet to have a Pinot from any maker for less than $20 that I would describe as more than competently good. There are decent cherry and spice flavors, but also a drying herbal quality that is limits this wine's enjoyability. Any thing more than $20 would make this wine a poor choice.

This is an very good, varietally correct Pinot Noir, within the price range of most wine drinkers. Believe we paid $8.99 on sale. It is plummy, jammy, juicy, little oak and an OK finish. This is a "Tuesday Night Wine" for us and the Quality/Price Ratio (QRP) is better than any lower end Pinots we have sampled. This would go with much lighter fare or just as a good, light sipping red. Take it to a party and it will be gone and commented on favorably.

magenta in color. nose of apple/jam, plum. flavor of tart cherry, tarry rubber, light red fruits. balanced with a longer finish, touch of alcohol just at the end. in the same league as other similarly priced pinots.

Tried a bottle of this again about 6 months after the first. This time I decanted with heavy splash, heavy splash in the glass, and lots of swirling. Volatizing the esthers released some fruit, and even some tannins. Still no rewards for layers of complexity, but basically balanced and drinkable. The producers of California value priced Pinot Noir are probably in a defensive situation, making inoffensive wines to avoid some of the flavor pitfalls of young, or bad Pinot. Probably picked a little on the ripe side to avoid that stemy greenness, but giving up some acid potential.

After a bright red appearance and pleasant nose, all i could taste was sour cherries and dried leather. No ripe fruit flavors or the characteristic peppery notes. Maybe needs more time in the bottle, but on day two the wine did not improve and picked up an unpleasant bitter flavor.

The wine was aerated through a Vinturi and decanted for about 30 minutes at cellar temperature. The nose is quite full, with aromas of lush ripe berries, roasted coffee beans, pepper, and gravel. On the palate the wine is less fruit forward than expected from the nose, showing initial focused red berry components that are equaled by midpalate elements of cocoa and spice. It finishes with good length, medium tannins, and interesting hints of strawberry and clay soil. Despite its evolution of flavor and length on the palate, the wine is slightly thin, and could be improved with a more full texture and weight. Overall this is decent value at $14 and is one to consider if you prefer more elements of spice and earth than outright fruit.

In our constant quest for good Pinot, we learned a long time ago to try everything. Every once in a while we stumble across one of those gems. This is not one. We can tell it is Pinot, but just barely. There is nothing wrong here, there just isn't any intensity or concentration. I think they filtered out most of the good stuff. There is a soft plummy fruit, but it is pretty weak. Not enough acid to keep thing interesting, so it is slightly unbalanced. There might be some barely noticeable tannins, but altogether little structure. Could be worse, will share and finish this bottle.

Definately a Pinot. Berry in the nose. Berry is up front on the taste with moderate acid. Virtually no tannin. No minerality to balance the fruit. Kind of a muddy pinot but for $10...great value.

Less impressed with this bottle. Needs some food with it to soften edges. Not as pleasant by itself.

A good value, for sure at $9. I like it for its earthiness(not a jammy wine) and the cherry/spice flavors.

Not impressed. Subtle hints of strawberry's, and red fruit. Full body with lots of acidity and not much of a finish.

OK, but unimpressive. Disappointing compared to previous vintages. Better inexpensive Pinots out there.
