Looks like liquid seedless strawberry jam. That carries over into the nose of strawberry, earth, and cola. Light to medium bodied, raspberries, chocolate cherries, white pepper, soft tannins, and a sweet sappy finish. Much better on night 2.

From 75cl, perfect cork. Another bottle of strawberry jam, ahem, soft, sweet, well-confected Eurowine. Nothing to add to my TN of 25.08.2014. Drink up. 84P

From 75cl, v. good cork. Decanted 1 hour with no development. Sweetish, slightly flabby, gentle wine with no rough edges, like strawberrry jam (thanks sundiegojc TN 15.03.2014 —you nailed it). Super-low acidity. Good-quality, inoffensive, mother-in-law-pleasing Euro-red, bearing about the same resemblence to real Rioja (whether old- or new-style) as Mouton Cadet does to real Médoc, i.e. precious little. Cynical restauranteurs of the world, listen up: Here is a profit opportunity. The Wine Advocate gave this 92P, which I find completely inexplicable. 85P(?)
Not very complex but a nice daily drinker. Strawberry, raspberry, a little heat on the nose but not on the palate. Good rioja at $13 at Costco. At $15+ there are better options.

The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry jam, cherry and pear. It tastes like raisin, cherry and plum. The body is light/medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.

An everyday wine, price-wise, but nonetheless special. Very appealing balance of fruit, acid and complexity, with a fine, long finish; a continuing favorite. Great QPR.

This is a nice Rioja. Very nice bouquet even when first opened becoming more subtle with a little time to breath. Good feel on the mouth and a nice long finish. The finish improves with time open and time in the glass. I think an hour after uncorking would be about right. I opened ran it through the Venturi for the first glass and then right out of the bottle during dinner.

Didn't like this as much as the last time. Seemed a little sharp on the finish, like there was a hint of VA. I've got 2 more bottles, hopefully those are better.

Drank over a few evenings - got much better after sitting. Must decant this one! Very balanced start to finish, with cherry and smokey tones throughout. Finishes medium with bright acidity and soft tannins. Will purchase again.

Popped and poured with pizza. Aroma is dark fruit, with plum coming out. Taste is pretty smooth with the fruit very much at the forefront. Has a bit of heat on the finish, but not too bad. Enjoyable in terms of easy drinking, but just a bit too dull.

Almost translucent bright crimson; sweet and ripe nose of honeyed red fruit, cherry, and strawberry; sweet raspberry and cherry on the palate, , soft and friendly, easy drinker though decent midpalate makes me interested to see a Gran Reserva from the producer.

New world in style, with fairly forward black cherry and black raspberry flavors along with milk chocolate, vanilla oak, and a bit of peppery spice. A little sweet. Not especially acidic, with a fairly long finish. At this point it's tasty but not especially complex.

Leads with anise, spiced fruit on the nose. Smooth and silky black fruit, toasted almonds, caramel with ample depth for this price point, excellent QPR.

Nose: Nice and balanced nose with tones of red fruits, strawberries, vanilla tones, and fresh picked red berries.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and some nice tannins. The feel is very nice, but it's lacking on the mid-palate, with tones of red fruits, strawberries, and some vanilla.
Overall: This is a nice and balanced rioja with decent depth on both the nose and palate.

cheers, I received an email that this wine was 92 pts at $14. It's a decent Rioja, but Riojas are a great value these days, and no way this was 92 pts. I'll enjoy the 2 bottles I bought, but there are way smoother Riojas under $18 that I'd rather drink. I loved the beautiful red color of this wine, and it had a nice finish, but if I want that level of tartness, I can spend less money......or I'll spend a few bucks more and have a really nice bottle.

The Palacios Generational Tasting (Salone di Gusto, Torino, Italy): Medium purple, ruby rim, viscous @ 14.5% abv. Medium developing nose of cherries, vanilla, strawberries. and later of cocoa and tobacco, needs time to open its complexity.Off-dry, medium-medium(-) acidity, medium(+)-full body, medium(-) soft tannins, high alcohol, i.e. a poweful wine. Medium(+) rich super ripe flavours of red cherries, strawberries. black pepper, meat and sweet blood notes. Good balance; structure balances complexity. Very good length, rich and almost sweet rich finish. Needs decanting. A very good wine. Drink now and cellar 5+year.
Sweet ripe morello cherries With spiced cinnamon and nutmeg. Almost christmasy but still having some acidity of cherries at the end to pull it back from being confected. Quite delicious

89/100
