Brought this as a "just in case" extra bottle to my wine group dinner last night at Two Chefs and opened it when someone else's red was off. This Tor showed beautifully, just like all the other ones I've opened. Down to the last bottle of 2004's

A nose of dark fruit and minerals, dark ruby in color. A full bodied Syrah, with blackberries, earthy berry, pepper with spice finish, smooth with a good finish.

Best right after placing bottle in the decanter; fruits were dwindling at 1 hour mark. Color was very dark purple, so deep the meniscus had a blue hue to it – purple like the sea sky at dusk as a storm brews. Color was incredibly enticing; I assessed an extra credit point on the 100 scale for color. Nose of blackberry, some cacao and oak, hint of black violets, very balanced – dry, yet faintly sweet tannins, but soft. Fruit forward palate of blackberry, hints of cedar and brown French cooking spices. Balanced with long legs, but not complex of palate; overall, a light body with a delicate mouth-feel for a syrah. Finish was too short – mixed raspberry, cacao returns, hint of oak; the black fruit really carries the tune here. Tannins well integrated – overall a composed glass. Small amount of very fine sediment in glass at end. 88/B = 50/6*/12/7/6/7

A big sweet fruit nose, big mouthfeel and full bodied, lots of sweet fruit, little tobacco and maybe some spice. There's some sharp alcohol burn on the finish which is lingering despite the low acidity. A big quality wine jut not complex.

Aromas of dark berries, black pepper, and spices. Ultra smooth mouthfeel with a mixed berry and herb flavor. Very well made and drinking great now. Has a certain delicious factor to it.

Deep purple/red color. Aromas of blueberries, violets and spice. Nicely structured, ripe fruit in the mouth with very good depth and length. Not a "blockbuster" syrah in style but, instead, a fairly elegant, food-friendly wine. At peak.

I got this from a store wine-of-the-month clubs. very fruit forward with a vegetal, stemmy flavor that I can't say I don't like but not really enjoying. a pleasant wine overall but disjointed, kinda like this review. (0 views)

I bought this bottle at the same time as some Pax Syrah. The sales clerk said she didn't really like Pax, but she enjoyed the Rock Syrah. Well, I now know that is because she must be a big zinfandel fan. I have never tasted a Syrah that was more zin-like than this one. Decanted for two hours and still lots of heat. Very sweet zin taste. Not a bad wine for the $22 I paid, but don't expect a Syrah.

Served as part of a tasting at K&L. This and the Retro Cellars Petite Sirah were the WOTF. Barnyard and mushroom on the nose; nice weight on the mouth yet light on the palate with flavors that did not overpower. Ends with a raisin finish. Good.

Showing red and black fruit with a little black pepper. Starting the downhill slide so drink up. Moderate tannins and acidity is still present

Very rich in tannins. Could have used 3-5 more years in the cellar to settle down. Not a traditional syrah. Character more like a cab.
