Gaja / Giacosa Dinner (Ballaro, Highwood, IL): Full generous nose is slightly oaky and creamy with nuttiness, red fruit and apple skin. Full bodied palate is rich and dense. Nice countering acids. A bit simple and one-dimensional, flavorwise.

With John & Linda at our house. Lovely nose of toast and strawberries. Gorgeous pale pink color. Complex, flavorful. Everybody likes it! No reason to hold it further. Still has plenty of fruit.

'08 rose, disgorged Nov. 2010 Extremely fruity nose, almost synthetic like the candied smell of a fruit roll-up, or chocolate covered strawberries. The palate tastes of stone fruits, esp. peach along with some multi-vitamin flavor. Finish is crisp, dry, salty and provides a nice counter balance to the fruit on the nose and palate. Interesting and complex, but also a little disjointed, like the nose, palate and finish don't work together in harmony to complement each other.

Beautiful salmon color and nice mousse. Lovely aromas of peach, cherry and limestone. Fresh, clean, exotic flavors of light peach, pear, cherry, and lime. bright effervescent bubbles. Not to be confused with depth & seriousness of Champagne, but a lovely appertif. Fun and friendly with crisp edge.

Extremely tart and acidic. I really don't know what was going on with this bottle. Tried it over 3 days and it really confused me. Can't score this wine, just hope that my next bottle is better. I will wait a while before popping it.

Getting better with age. Wait! Has settled down to become more expressive. Wheat, flowers, faint strawberry. A small bit of pleasant sap emerging.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasting. Pale strawberry aromas. Lean and fun on palate, also showing pale red fruit, somewhat short and simple.
