Generic red Bordeaux, like a decent table wine. Pushed by all the British wine sellers because if they don't sell this, they can't have the proper Clinet. Don't bother, if £9 is your budget, better options in many many other places.

100% Merlot and made by Clinet. Dark garnet with red crimson hues, showing aromas of dark fruits, dark cherry, spice and hints of toasty oak. Medium bodied with good balance on palate. Dark plum, sour cherry, nice supple fruits and rounded moth-feel. Plenty of spice on the finishing, soft and ripe tannins with a decent length. Soft and lack intensity, nice everyday wine but it could be a serious bargain at a right price.

Half a dozen at Kildale Village Hall for the party to celebrate 2,617 brace in the 2012 season. Very much better than it was just six months ago. Vigorous if simple merlot, slightly peppery, does not pall, a very good shoot wine, and fabulous QPR at £9.20 delivered.

Somewhat muted fruit on the nose, some tobacco and vanilla, also a hint of autumn. Taste is dry with medium body, good acidity and some tannin. Not very complex but enjoyable enough. Basic claret, ok.

Again, this wine is a reasonably pleasant, well-made if anodyne wine. As a mid-week drinker with dinner it's fine, but there is oohing remarkable or even interesting that would compel me to open it for friends on a weekend.
This is a new world Bordeaux blend in everything but name, and could have been any mid-tier new world region. Clear, dark cherry colour, cassis and blackberries on the nose, medium bodied and short length.
There are far worse bottles out there that you could pay more for, but equally, there are some genuinely exciting wines for less.

Non-blind. Slow-oxed for some time, w/Mats E. Impression: Good (84 p) Young, deep purple color. Timid nose. Thin on the mid palate but has some oomph to both settle down and grow a little over the next few years.

Shoot lunch wine; two magnums and a few bottles. Hard, unbending, disappointing. It is losing its fruit already, becoming awkward and unfriendly. Serving this cuts down the lunchtime consumption dramatically on a shooting day -- possibly a good thing.

WOW this wine is not for the light hearted or someone who DOES NOT like delicious wine! This is 100% Merlot for the very edge of Pomerol which basiclly makes it a Pomerol! Dark fruit, blueberry pie, black cherry soda up front on the palette while the nise has hints of Plum and smoke. For a wine so young this is drinking VERY well but if you have the patience, give it 3-4 years.

Bordeaux Region - Tasted at Chateau: Tasted at Chateau Clinet. Excellent QPR at under $10. Medium bodied, but shows characteristics of Bordeaux wines. Nice flavors of dark fruits, graphite, floral, wisps of earth. Light tannins, and very drinkable now.

Popped and let breathe in the glass. First impression was the acidity in this wine was over the top, with good cranberry and plum fruit on the palate. However, this wine completely changed after about 60 - 75 minutes in the glass. On the nose, cigar box and smoke, with a hint of blackberry fruit. On the palate, cigar box, coffee, and blackberry. This was pretty smooth (considering how young this is) with the acidity more in check after the 60-75 minutes of air time. After an additional 60 minutes of air time, some black cherry, and cranberry fruit started to shine through. A well made wine in general, but at $15 it is a steal IMO.

I like this much more than many previous posters. It's ripe but focused and structured. Medium weight with good acid. Oak nicely integrated. Licorice & dark berries on the nose. Raspberry, cedar and spice on the palate. 14% alc but deals well with it. This is 100% merlot. Nice value at $14 and easy to like.

On the nose plum, caramel and just a hint of game. On the palate soft tannins, enough acidity to keep some balance. Good length. Plum fruit. 14% Alcohol not really noticeable. Not amazingly intense in flavours but everything in harmony. Enough tannins to give it a bit of bite, perhaps even a little drying on the end palate. The wine really came together when accompanied by food; lamb steaks really invigorated the wine. A well made wine, certainly balanced and good value for money but it just didn't have the 'wow' factor I was expecting.

Color, purple. Nose of rubber; dusty, black cherries, some alcohol. Very soft on the mouth - that's the Merlot! Dark fruit on the palate, tar, fairly strong alcohol. Baked bread, yeasty, very French. Bracing acidity. Long finish. Alcohol a bit strong, I think this needs more time in the bottle, showing as extremely young but I don't have a lot of experience with Pomerol. Overall very interesting wine, not for the faint of heart and not a P & P. Changed overnight, but still quite unbalanced. After two nights, this was undrinkable. Will withhold score until the next bottle - much later.

Modern, up-front, 14% alcohol (and it shows). Some heat and bite, no real length, and tingly tannins. But that said, not at all bad for what it is -- fruity, persistent, well-made, and great QPR at under a tenner delivered. This will do very well for large convivial parties of uncritical fusiliers (which is what I bought it for!).
