Interesting. 7th from a case and it could be just bottle variation but these seem to be getting younger! First few bottles from the case, drunk a couple of years ago, were all very oxidative and deep orange. Subsequent bottles have been steadily getting fresher and this bottle followed the trend and was fresh with nice fruit and a touch of iso hexane complexity. Premox reversal?

There is a definite whiff of oxidation but I still like this as it’s not too dominant and the fruit is suprisingly fresh (although ripe). I’m more forgiving of a bit of oxidation than most. Melon, lime, lychee and stone fruits along with a good dose of honey, iso hexane, smoke and rocks. Lowish acidity and quite rich for a Riesling but just about balanced. Decent finish with a touch of bitterness. 3.5

Brought to drink at Oinoscent during service The wine shows medium intensity in the nose, the fruit is ripe to overripe, a few vegetal notes, citrus and tropical notes, a few petrol notes too. In hte palate, the wine shows medium body, lower acidity than expected, the fruit is again ripe to overripe, mineral notes, mediun finish. To be brutally honest I was expecting more but the hardships of the vintage left the their mark on the wine. Hot vintage, less acidity but good phenolic ripeness. That being said, the wine was of course fun to drink

Excellent bottle that I chose to decant for 24 hours! This wine really needs that to show its nature. It's vibrant and complex with a very long finish. 2009 is a bit surprising though, as it has all the flavors of a sweet wine without the sugar.

Blind tasted. This gave off pure petrol/kerosene aromas which completely hid any fruit on the nose. Rich palate with some residual sugar yet also some acid notes and a slight CO2 buzz. Dry finish like the bitterness of kiwi skins. Very good but perhaps not the level expected of a Grand Cru from such a great house. Perhaps the heat of the 2009 vintage got the better of them...

A challenge of expression :the Empyreumatic flavours in the wine. (Marseille, France): Decanted one hour. Nose of gazoline, clementine juice. Very nice mouth rich, thick on orange juice. Suberp ending on elegant kumkat bitterness. A very good wine. I would not recommend to keep it because of this hot vintage: just enough acidity to have a nice balance. Bettane & desseauve were wrong on this wine because they are not blind tasters. Not good Q/P. 90 Not a hint of smoke, (caracteristic of Rangen).

Drank with spicy Jamacian jerk chicken. Just delicious. Still very young and primary. Sweet crispy apple, petrol, and spice on the nose. Rich and balanced palate with great acid.

Freshest bottle so far. Still orange but there’s grapefruit, exotic fruit, honey and some stones on the finish. Not great but pretty good. 3.5

Not as advanced as previous bottles but still very developed. No fruit or acidity. Dry honey and funk. Quite like it but was hoping for more. 3.5
