BYOB with wines 30+ years (Sollentuna): Old Riesling, lots of sweetness, good acids, some diesel and some canned pineapple. Guessed Mosel correctly but was off on the sweetness, as I thought this was a Kabinett.

Nicely vibrant and ready. Bit of petrol on the nose and the pallet has laid down to be smooth and silky. Acidity is starting to fade, so it’s time to start drinking these up!

Another excellent showing. There's a bit of cheesy funk on the nose amidst bright floral, petrol, and ripe orchard fruit aromas, but with air the cheesy notes blow off to give way to more savoury smoky and developed notes. This is classic Mosel - ripe, bright, lightly sweet, and unbelievably light on its feet while conveying remarkable intensity of flavour at the same time. Bright acidity balances the sweetness perfectly, and the finish has tremendous length.

Golden colored with pronounced flavors of golden delicious apple, white florals, honey, and botrytis. Slightly heavy mouthfeel with good acidity. Well balanced. Drinks appropriately for its age.

Housewarming: Best showing I've had from the '89 in some time. Still remarkably fresh and youthful; light on its feet with lots of bright, ripe citrus and green apple fruit flavours accented by slate, florality, and layers of more mature smoky and savoury notes. There's a faint tinge of botrytis apparent on the back end, but it's not overly sweet and actually comes across a bit drier than a lot of modern Kabinett. Impeccably balanced with plenty of acidity to match the gentle sweetness, and finishes long. Glad I have another.

Leo's Blind Tasting Group - June '16 edition (Back Forty West, NYC): Not a great showing compared to other bottles I've had in the last few years, though I still found this very good - just not at the level I typically expect from mature Prüm. This is very developed and mature (and seemed more like a Spätlese from the 70s/early 80s) with the burnished, smoky, and brassy flavours dominating the fruit heavily. There's also a faint whiff of acetone here though that blows off with some air, and with time it freshens up as the ripe orchard fruit and floral notes get more intense. Nice, but a touch underwhelming for the producer.

Wow. Stupendous bottle. PnP. Shimmering yellow gold with subtle green highlights, a bit of spritz on opening. Immediate, deep, expansive nose of very ripe baked apples and diesel, this is like smelling liquid sunshine splashed on warm slate. Riper palate than I expected, becoming less and less sweet, and even becoming quite dry, over time in glass. Not as crisp as say a 2001, this holds up well and certainly isn't flabby, but shines on its ripe fruit and bottle age. Plenty of tertiaries, some nice dry spices (nutmeg - good call, dzop) and balancing bitter notes on the tail end - a true Spatlese. Pure. Detailed. Stylish. This is a beauty. Fading at about the 2 hour mark, with no improvement, so drink up. 93 pts pure quality, 95 pts personal preference.

Comes across a little softer than the bottle I had a few months ago, but this is still really good. The fruit's still bright and vibrant, augmented by mature honeycomb, petrol and smoky flavours with gentle floral accents, and there's a lovely glossy, slightly creamy texture that makes this very appealing to drink.

Grand Sichuan NYC (quick notes): Completely outclassed by the '88 Auslese poured alongside it. Good acidity, elegant Mosel frame, but little to distinguish it. =/-

Great stuff. Seamless and polished with honeycomb, flowers, mature smoky flavours and minerally elements framing a core of pure Mosel fruit. This is really lovely to drink with a really elegant, delicate touch on the palate, bright acids balancing the sweetness perfectly and striking length.

AP #12-90. Dinner at 11st Street Dockside, Port Royal, SC. Medium gold in color, this was a perfect wine to enjoy while dining overlooking the water and with a $0 corkage policyto boot! Light to medium bodied, this is a delicate wine that is very typical of Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr bottlings. Showing green apples with a crisp underlying acidity along with a beautiful streak of minerality. Light petrol, not much, really more of a minerality. This is clearly a wine still on the way up, but a great drink today as well. 50+13+12+8+8 = 91+

@BYOB, tasted blind
Honey, band aid, photoalbum, white flowers, canned apricot, sweet noticable, diluted on the palate

Fully saturated cork, this showed over the hill. Sad, as a previous bottle two years ago was killer. Thinning to the point of decrepitude.
