Quite a wild, floral, stemmy nose along with the usual intense kirsch aromas. Leaner than usual, very expressive flavors of cherry and cranberry, mint, herbs, asparagus and bell pepper. The intensity of the fruit is impressive at this age. Stands out, as usual.

Spicy, woody, stemmy aroma with secondary notes of red and black berries and licorice. Just a hint of barnyard at first but it blew off with some air. Mostly stemmy, woody, brambley red berry flavors (cranberry, cherry, raspberry) — like chewing on a raspberry stem / seed. Long finish that’s somewhat reminiscent of cough syrup. Well balanced and integrated with plenty of acid and tannins. Rustic.
Good but not my favorite. Drink soon, but no rush.

This hasn’t moved much the past 9 years, go figure. Very much on lovely, smooth and subtle cherry fruit and spices. There are some green notes as well, suggesting 2008 is a less ripe vintage perhaps. Either way, there is no hurry here, but this is drinking beautifully right now.

Decanted for an hour, welcoming ripen berries, earthy pinot nose. Freshness on the palate, chewy and aromatic. Full in body, not particular tannic but pretty strong. It comes with a decent finish and shall drink well in next 5 years.

Intense and ripe, juicy. You get those wild strawberry and cherry notes typical from Raynaud wines along licorice and herbs. Obviously this doesn't have the elegance and depth that Rayas has but you get an understanding of the style. A little simple but delicious.

Bought on recommendation from wine shop but was a bit concerned given the 2008 vintage. When poured this wine is incredibly light in color. With just a few minutes in the glass swirling aromas of tea, cola, herbs. Quite a bit of depth on the palate with a good backbone of acidity...actually tastes more like a pinot than a cotes-du-rhone.
Needs air to show it's best. Popped and poured this, and it did not show remotely as well as the bottle at the domaine, which had been open for at least a day or two.

Pino like light color Spicy and berry smell Taste is very acidic and medium tannins with good fruit Drank over a couple days but acid never became milder and no additional strawberry like attributes arrived on the palate (which happens with pinos)
Honestly too difficult for me to understand burgundy like rhone wines like this one

Unsure how long it'd been open, but the nose and appearance made it seem much older than a 2008. Lots of dried leaves and earth, mushroom and coffee. The flavors follow suit. Lots of dried berry fruit. I tasted this blind and knew I tasted grenache. It's a very tasty, earthy CDR. I'd recommend lots of decanting or breathing time, allowing it to take on these fun qualities.

Light red, clear complexion. Fragrant nose of wild strawberries, cracked pepper, lavender, sage, and talcum powder. Medium bodied, nice acidity, supple tannin structure. Good fruit and herb carryover, slight bitter note on a very long strawberry / herb finish.
Overall: Excellent Cotes du Rhone. One of the best I've had in years. Makes me happy on the inside.

Good freshness in this vintage combined with the typical ripe cherry fruit and peppery spices in a pure and elegant style. So pleasing and so utterly delicious - every time - the wines from Chateau des Tours. What wine is all about.

Opened tonight, and it's a bit sweeter and simpler than the 2007 version. Nose is very grenache, with the typical "spicy" note, and there's some heat on the palate. At a two dollar increase from the 2007 I'm not sure it's a repurchase. I'll check it again tomorrow.

Was very intrigued to tastes thas as I have been on the search for it for some time. Having had Rayas several times in the past few months I was shocked that the nose on this was familiar with that exotic incense smell with pepper and red fruits. After it opened up it revealed some green italian plums and star fruit. Very interesting. On the palate it had a light mouthfeel but very complex. I think this actually needs some cellar time and suprisingly it was an awesome sipper with a madura cigar.

Nice typical nose with plenty of ripe strawberry and raspberry with garrigue notes. A light touch of green as well. Very good structure and acidity, more ripe cherry and maybe a hint of licorice. I like the balance between the intense fruit and acidity. Improved over the 2 days.

Light colour. Pleaseant fruity nose. Broad, spicy taste. Not a long bouquet. Quite different compared with other southerne Rhône.
