From a perfect double magnum. Knowing the secret of old Simi from top vintages, this was unsurprisingly gorgeous with juicy, fruity richness, lots of cassis, black currant and blackberry, plus a minty freshness, a hint of eucalyptus and an impressive structure with good length.
To my knowledge 1992 was the last of the amazing Simis...

fading red/purple, bit brown in color. nose- rich ripe fruit, bit of tobacco, leather, still very lively, touch of tar, dried fruit. palate- well balanced, light tannins, slightly dry, everything is well integrated, not as much of the cigar box pulls through

Hey Guiseppe Simi makes an awesome vino, BUT did not perform like other aged CAB. Not much fruit or floral. Just a nice red vino, almost tannic. Had signs of high alcohol. No complaints, but tasted a 1994 Sterling on the same night and that one blew the Simi away. Ah the beauty of such options to enjoy. A 100+ more bottles of this in someone's cellar.

Formidable, well structured aged Cabernet brimming with bracing dried black and blue berry fruit. Sable in color, and with a closed nose, this Sonoma red delivers dark chocolate and tobacco at midpalate anchored by prominent notes of blueberries. Solid core of fresh brewed coffee driving towards a lingering, compact finish flashing toast and cedar with a mocha laced edge. Best now and through the end of the year.

Right into it, this reminded me of a Beringer Reserve of the same era, and I am not quite sure why. It has some sweet eucalyptus with pretty black fruits. Some framboise and cherry herring was in this mix too. Great balance with a classically sexy mouthfeel. Long finish. Very nice indeed.

Much better than expected. Did not decant, but was ready to drink from opening. Still retains some tannins, but rich and integrated into a lovely experience. Dare I say could develop/maintain somewhat longer? Why chance it--fine drinking now.

This wine was terrific and a really pleasant surprise. Cedar, currant and berry flavors with well-integrated tannins. Although fully mature and drinking beautifully, the Simi was not aging and should have a few years of excellent drinking ahead. Maybe the best Simi Reserve I have had.

Very nice, but just not completely working. Solid core of fruit - cherry, boysenberry - but a bit hot and overly fruity. The tannins have integrated but are now somewhat overwhelmed by the sweetness. Aging very well for a Cali cab of this age and very enjoyable, but misses greatness. Drank after an incredible 86 Montrose, so perhaps unfairly prejudiced by the comparison.

Very dark, showing just a little age. Very open nose of tobacco, mineral, cherry, cinnamon, and barnyard. Slightly hot alcohol and good acidity on the palate, with some tannin and a strong soy sauce flavor. Generally an Old Word style, quite complex, slightly green. The alcohol blew off after an hour, but the rest of the wine grew harsh and awkward. Just a bit past its prime.

Aged well. Earthy. A little peppery and oak. Full bouquet, tart but not fruit forward, and still slightly tannic.

7/10 Initially seemed flawed - sat and opened up and this wine rose to the occasion - wonderful aged balanced wine - good fruit and finish.

Decanted for 90 minutes. Enjoyable wine but seemed a little out of balance. Maybe it needs a little more time in the bottle (funny as that sounds).
