  • From 75cl, perfect cork, decanted 1 hour. Compared to my outstanding previous bottle (CT TN 07.09.2019) this one was closed, tannic and surly. The initally explosive sage/thyme/garrigue scent vanished after decanting; entry thick, heavy and broodingly inexpressive; mid-palate vastly concentrated but lacking sweetness to balance the hefty bitter weight of dissolved solids; finish not quite pleasant. A very serious wine, in no conceivable way faulty, probably just caught at an awkward moment. On this showing 89P(?)

  • Blowing in the Wind (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Very dark red color. PNP. Followed a glass over 45 minutes. Very ripe and modern, blackberry, blackberry liqueur, plum, a little earth, damp, alcohol, pepper. This just wasn't something that I can really appreciate that much anymore. Overwrought for me, butI'm sure there are plenty that will adore this ripe, extracted style.

  • From 75cl, perfect cork. Outstanding monolithic super-ripe brooding blackberry/mulberry fruit, bright acidity and creamy but structured texture. This massive Grenache from ancient vines can be served with a good decant now, but has easily a decade in store. (If I may suggest a food match, it was fantastic with carbonara made with finest Parma ham, free-range eggs and a dribble of white truffle oil.) 94P

  • Dark fruits give way to earthiness and minerality. Well made, polished. Long finish.

  • Very slick and modern; in a blind tasting, I think I would have pegged this for a Californian or Australian grenache. Thankfully it wasn't too over the top for me and there's no doubt this is a well-made, polished product. Ripe plum, blueberry, espresso, and spices on the nose. Silky tannins, medium-low acidity, and sweet vanilla finish. Not something I would typically go for but enjoyable nevertheless.

  • Did not decant. Velvety with white pepper. Not a long finish. Tannins present but not dominate on the palate. Drank over a period of 60-90 minutes. Perhaps decanting would have made a difference(?)

  • Took about 30 minutes to open. This is big and forward, but not without some grace. Fruit tends more red than black, with a prominent plum note. Lots of licorice and oak influence. Very tasty but will be too much for some. If blind, I think I would have guessed a Clarendon Hills Grenache.

  • Blind tasting. Decanted for 1 ½ hours. Dark ruby-red, with bluish reflections near the rim. The nose is immediately greeted by a heaty sensation (an impression of a higher alcohol level), followed by a blast of stewed plums, raisins, rumtopf and kirsch. Smooth tannins, a velvety but slightly gangrenous mouthfeel due to the higher alcohol level, are paired with lower acidity. Mon Cheri, black pepper, bell pepper and notable extract sweetness on the mid-palate. A wine that lacks freshness, with a medium-long finish. Drinking well.

Blindverkostung.

  • Dark fruits and some tobacco. Little sweet but in a very good way. Long lingering finish. Popped and poured.

  • Nice plum filled nose with sweet wood. Entry is fairly primary sweet then grows steadily to a candy finish with a fair bit of leathery tobacco and spice. Fine tannins as well. An interesting combination of fairly sugary sweetness with a decent dose of complexity. The finish goes on and on with black pepper. This is very grenache with a deep fruitcake richness.
