Northern Gevrey 1er (Zoom): Ripe and meaty black cherry aromas with some toast accents. Big and concentrated though still firm, making the palate compact. Better in 3-5 years.

Maison Champy Dinner (Boka - Chicago IL): Black cherry and boysenberry aromas and flavors. Firm fruit and tannins, slightly more rustic and backward than the Lavaux St.-Jacques also tasted tonight, which I slightly preferred.

Maison Champy 2008 and 2009 Wine Tasting (Maison Champy - Beaune): Barrel tasting at Maison. Good combination of red and black fruit, fairly firm and powerful. Good balance and integration already but the structure that makes me think this will need close to 10 years in the cellar.

Gevrey-Chambertin (Northside) 1er Cru Tasting (Chicagoland): Black cherry with good weight and roasted meat. Clearly ripe, but nicely balanced. Good now and the next 3-5 years.

Ripe black cherry aromas and flavors with roasted meat. Good+ weight and length. Maturing slightly faster vs most similar 2009 1ers, also still firm.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Ripe black berries throughout, with moderate structure so nicely balanced for near-term enjoyment. Definitely a good value wine.

Mostly red fruits, good minerality, surprisingly long finish.
