Served at Confrerie event. Spectacular. Why you cellar wine. Gorgeous nose, complete, spherical, totally resolved tannins and meltingly beautiful. Declined at about 60-75 minutes. A point. Wine of the evening for me and many others. Unbelievably good tonight.
My experience with the Potels from before he sold the business & his name has been that he chose VERY well. In 2002 he had 4 barrels, 1 from each of 4 producers, and as best I can tell the same for 2001.

Healthy crimson with lightening around the edges. Refined secondary nose shows ripe tobacco, sous-bois, morello cherries and spice. A focused and linear palate shows sour red cherries framed by savory tobacco, earth tones, hint of brown spice, high acidity and a decent finish.

Orange red in color. Lovely aromatics of florals, spice, dark red raspberry/cherry fruits and hint of cool pine/menthol notes. A medium bodied palate shows structured and savory dark berry fruits, good acidity, some oak still peeking through and a decent floral finish.

Dinner at Kai Garden. Medium garnet. Muted nose, missing the expressive floral notes observed at my first tasting some weeks back. Slight oaky notes but not jarring. Light body. Soft silky tannins. Plummy and juicy. Missing the heights that one might expect of a GC. PC level quality in my humble opinion.

Ruby with minimal fading. Smells like Burgundy-game, licorice, black fruit, and eventually, cool wintergreen. Medium weight, fairly light for Bonnes Mares. Classic cooler vintage profile with soil from beginning to end. At or near peak-nothing hard about it, but it still has some tannin to resolve. Very good bottle.

This was universally acclaimed even though the bio calendar is only neutral today. Initially the nose was of sautéed morels but a trailing pie cherry nuance brightens and lifts the bouquet. Earthy but vibrant in the mouth. No hurry here.

Took five hours in a decanter to blow off dustiness, then slowly revealing a classy, quite young demeanour with raspberry and dark brush.
