Medium-ruby color. Typical PN nose dominated by red fruits. Dark fruits on the palate with minor roles by liquid smoke, tar, and a tight little beam of tobacco. Amazingly smooth texture that feels great in the mouth. Finish has nice length but gained a little bitterness over 90 minutes. Nothing really wrong with this but it's lost some complexity since my last bottle 3 years ago.

Color is brown-red. Nose is a bit smoky, with blackberry tones. Initial taste is a bit tanny, so it has a bit more, maybe a year or more left in it. Then boysenberry, blackberry, a bit of tobacco and spice. Quite nice.

corked beyond any doubt; even i got it immediately (not my bottle). however, a couple of people were already drinking it before i took the host aside and told him. this is always an awkward moment, and i actually think the wine got drunk anyway; but, at least not by me and jane.

13.5% alcohol. not decanted. raspberry and black cherry, mixed in with a little dirt, this is a very pleasant wine, drinking well. i especially like the finish, which is long and clean.

Translucent purple/pink hue. Expansive nose with strawberries and rosewater. Rich complexity on the palate with more red fruits, maybe a hint of mint. Super-smooth body and velvety tannins. I'd say this is peaking right now.
My last several bottles of older KWs have been extremely disappoining so this bottle made me feel much better about collecting from this producer for the last 12 years.

Deep opaque ruby, crisp acidity, full-bodied with a long finish. Has a subtle flavor arch with notes of dark cherry and plum fruit. Nicely integrated with beautiful depth and complexity. Acidity softens over time in the glass leaving a flannel like softness.

was better 2 years ago....pine, anise, faded rhubarb...If I had more I'd let go 8 years to see if this develops really austere burgondian edges. Nice overall but was better 2 years ago as an American pinot fruit bomb.

Sort of a dark, briary wine upon opening, lots of black fruit aromas, minerals, some oak. Starts well enough on the palate with more dark fruit, slight plumminess, earth, oak and tannins, but drying a bit across the midpalate with the fruit fading and finishing somewhat hard and angular. The oak becomes more prominent on the finish also.

STARTED OUT A BIT SIMPLE, OPENED UP THEN SHOWED A UNDERBELLLY OF TANNINS AND THEN REALLY STARTED TO DRINK NICE. I CALL THE INITIAL TASTE ROSE PETALS, BUT IT IS NOT A FLAVOR THAT I PERSONALLY LIKE. IT DISAPPEARED OR INTEGRATED ONCE THE WINE OPENED UP. THE HIGLY RATED WINE SPECTATOR SCREW CAP 2002 AND 2001 ARGYLE CARRIES THE SAME ROSE PETAL TASTE BUT IT OVERWHELMS THE WINE THE ENTIRE TIME. MY WIFE AND I AGREE ON WINE ABOUT HALF THE TIME AND NEITHER OF US LIKE THE ARGYLE MUCH. THANKFULLY THIS WINE WAS MCUH BETTER AND I WILL HOLD THE OTHER BOTTLE A COUPLE YEARS AT MOST.
