Coravin taste. 92. This wine needs time but will be magnificent. So tightly wound, with red and dark fruit and fine-grained tannins. Give this wine a nap for 5 years and it will be a joy. Good QPR for $25 / bottle.

Deep coloured but showing some development at the rim; dark fruits, Asian spice. Ripe. Typical rich 2010 fruit. The full-on fruit suggests this might need to be consumed at little earlier - will it age gracefully?; a bit dumb on the palate. Closed - decant if serving now. Quite tannic - rustic tannins on the palate. Desperately needs food. Muscular - not much charm.

Bordeaux Star Performers Tasting (8 Danks street, Sydney): cream, red berry, floral and herbaceous notes and touches of cedar. In the mouth the wine has flavours of red currant, spice and a green note that lends a little sourness. A bit of alcoholic warmth on the finish. Out of whack. Nah

Bordeaux 2009 vs. 2010 - Check in on 50 well known Chateaux: PnP from a 0.375. Dark puple. Muted nose of dark fruits with some minty notes. On the palate very reductive and young. The tannins are strong but soft. This is what is so great about 2010. Structured wines with present but no unripe tannins across the board. Aromatically this wine is reductive and closed, not revealing anything. So, put this away till at least 2016. Second wines are usually drinkable early but not in 2010 I suspect. 87-89

The 2010 L'Hospitalet de Gazin is deep purple in colour with intense nose of blackcurrants and thyme. A very young wine to drink now with grippy tannins and still rather green. This wine definitely has the structure and power to last many years ahead of it, particularly coming from the 2010 vintage.
Flavours of blackcurrant and raisins upon pop and pour with sweet cherries and sweet chocolate over time. The harshness of tannins also begin smoothing out a little with air. Flavours exhuberate themselves mostly on the mid-palate with a nice, long memorable finish. There's a prominent sweetness, perhaps from the higher percentage of Merlot involved. Too young, grippy and tight to drink now, some graceful years will definitely be beneficial.

Nez boisé, epices, poivre. En bouche, ampleur moyenne, les tanins sont doux. Tout est bien équilibré. Longueur moyenne. Bien agréable maintenant

A Coravin taste for my mother-in-law (who liked it) and my spouse (who did not). Similar to last time but need more time.

Another Coravin taste from the same bottle with my friend Leslie. Still magnificent, with red and dark fruit and lots of fine tannins. Needs time.

Seemed dull at night, but what was left in the bottle the next day was much better. So wait on this one or give it plenty of time in the decanter.

Medium bodied, some smoke and red merlot fruit but no fireworks here. Given the excellent reviews of the grand vin this is a bit of a let down.
