I underestimated this. This is very serious and well made juice. I don't know the cepage here but tonight it is a dead ringer for a 10 year old classed growth St Julien. Nose is effusive and there is a silkiness here that is undeniable. My only complaint is that there is nothing that speaks of Umbria (or Italy), but this is drinking beautiful at the moment and would be stellar with any cut of roasted beef.

Feels like it's beginning to hit the downward slope. Delicious to start, but the fruit goes off and a bit sour with too much air. Still a very nice, elegant midweight pairing for a hunk of red meat.

avec 2 heures de carafe, le vin manifeste de beaux arômes de fruits, graphite, mentholé, animal, c'Est très bien, pas à la portée de tous, car les gens semblaient trouvé le vin un peu dur, mais à mon goût, ce fût extra

Drank the first bottle of 6 today with my wife, enjoying a French-style entrecôte. Color is stone-red and ripe, but the taste is still surprisingly young - will benefit from some additional years of cellar. The scent is perfect, leather, cinnamon, prunes - a lot of drying tannines still (just a bit too much to my taste) - but what a wine! Felt lightheaded afterwards as if I was knocked out. Will go back and get some more for storage. This is an Italian King-Kong.

Not sure why I'm at odds with others on this big, bold, beautiful, fragrant Super Tuscan-like blends. Has it come into its own in the last five months? Still seems a young wine, with enough tannins to last for some years.

Disappointing at this time -- may need a couple more years in the cellar to cut down the tannin, or at least a very fatty steak.
Decanted and drank over two days, didn't take careful notes, consumed with a veal ragu. Aromas were wonderful, complex and enticing, but on the palette the fruit was underwhelming and thin, overpowered by an intense, dry tannic backbone. There was no detectable flaw with the wine, and you could perceive interesting flavors, but the tannic sawdust flavor dominated.

Drinking really well now, shows added complexity and some of the rustic flavors I love, and the tannins has integrated well.
