I underestimated this. This is very serious and well made juice. I don't know the cepage here but tonight it is a dead ringer for a 10 year old classed growth St Julien. Nose is effusive and there is a silkiness here that is undeniable. My only complaint is that there is nothing that speaks of Umbria (or Italy), but this is drinking beautiful at the moment and would be stellar with any cut of roasted beef.

Feels like it's beginning to hit the downward slope. Delicious to start, but the fruit goes off and a bit sour with too much air. Still a very nice, elegant midweight pairing for a hunk of red meat.

avec 2 heures de carafe, le vin manifeste de beaux arômes de fruits, graphite, mentholé, animal, c'Est très bien, pas à la portée de tous, car les gens semblaient trouvé le vin un peu dur, mais à mon goût, ce fût extra

(Arnaldo Caprai Rosso dell’Umbria IGT Outsider) This blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot is the least “Umbrian” of the lot to me, but it will be useful as a crossover wine for guests who may not have ventured outside California. Black and red fruits, tobacco, vanilla, mocha, and tar are showcased in this big-boned, rich, dense bottling. Sweet, ripe fruit and fairly evident new French oak will give it footing on the international market, but underlying green notes and a grippy finish take it back home. Drinking really well now, shows added complexity and some of the rustic flavors I love, and the tannins has integrated well.
