16th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Same Old Place): A great way to start this tasting of 02's. Deep black cherry and plum fruit along with some spice. Very round and smooth. Substantial backbone w/o being overtly tannic. Sediment was notable compared to others. 92 on day 2.

I saw the fake cork and was worried. Unfortunately the telltale notes of sherry confirmed my fears. Down the drain. Whoever invented these plastic corks needs to be shot.

Blueberry muffin nose with some kirsch and a little reeee col aaa. Pretty one dimensional on the palate with jammy dark fruit, menthol, and some heat peeking through. Not a good wine considering the vintage. Seems past prime already.. Wondering if the faux corks have a role in this?

Outstanding. We had this as a dessert wine for Timmy's birthday party. The dessert was chocolate and cinnamon and wow, everyone mentioned it at ther party. Too bad it was our last bottle, but it went to a good cause.

One of the best of the Ken Wright vineyard designated wines, and a very good vintage to boot. Refreshing low alcohol (by new world standards) at 13.5%. Concentrated and well-balanced, this wine is hard to beat.

2002 Pinots; 1/1/2007-12/31/2007 (Various): An excellent drink. A good nose of brambly berries with a rich, albeit slightly tart, mouth of strawberries and raspberries and dust. (This surprises me because I'm rather used to the Freedom HIll as being a much darker, more brooding wine. But I digress.) The wine is mostly resolved, also a bit suprising for this bottling. It has a decent length, though nothing to write home about, but the light, airy part of the length persists for a bit longer, but in a sort of ephemeral way (as if that's not an oxymoron.)
Ready to go - barely!

A nose of strawberry and raspberry, wild flowers and a touch of anise. Soft and silky in the mouth with a well balanced finish. A very gentle almost delicate wine. I clearly do not get Oregon Pinot as I find this simple and terribly dull. It has none of the earthy, barnyard complexities of a good Burgundy and none of the racy fruit of a CA Pinot. Well made but boring.

Rub red of medium dark extract. Very dark fruit aroma (through spring sinus. Wonderful mouth feel, textrure an overall palate pleaser. (a few more years to integrate the tannins?) Over all nice. 1st night, went well with the roast chicken and chard. Second night not as big in aroma, but the mouth feel was excellent.

This bottle was a little slow to open but after 20 minutes delicious. Not as good as first bottle.

Wow! This was thick, rich, round and delicious. Wish i had more than 1 bottle remaining. One of the best 02 pinots i've tasted.

Slightly purple in color. Clear to the rim and clearly young still. Decent acidity but a little jammy for my taste.

Wow! This wine is showing very well right now - balanced fruit, acid and wood - sorry it was my last one
