Dinner at Pintxos Bar by Basque Kitchen (Basque Kitchen by Aitor, Singapore): An ex-domaine bottle, this was drinking far better than I would expect from a Crianza at this age. The nose was rather funky at first, but opened up with time to show lovely notes of earth and cigarette smoke, dark cherries and berries, with a lovely twist of florals and peppery spice at the edges. Very nice. The palate was lovely too. Probably just at the very end of its peak drinking window, this had lovely soft tannins and still nicely bright, fresh acidity wrapped around a lovely pure core of glowingly sweet cherries and dark berries, with a little trail of cigarette smoke and peppery spice trailing away into a nicely lengthy finish. On the lighter, being a Crianza, but with a sneaky amount of quiet complexity and intensity. Very yummy.

13% ABV. Translucent ruby with a hint of tawny in the glass. Reticent on the nose initially with light leather and tobacco notes. Medium bodied with tangy red fruit, somewhat currant-like. Pleasant, and somewhat reminiscent of a light aged Bordeaux, but not much more.

($19) Powerful with good ripeness and underlying oak flavors. Subtle hints of barnyard and animal add nice interest. Finish could use resolution, it seemed a bit acidic or tannic, but not enough to sway my opinion of the wine. Very nice, good price.

($18) April Fool's Tasting at Momo's: April Fools Tasting - Subtle nose. Earth, spice. Dryness. Tannin? I found this a bit hard with a touch of brett. Interesting, though not necessarily mouth pleasing.

($18) Medium red color - mostly opaque. Nose of vanilla and tobacco. Strawberry fruit, medium-bodied, lots of vanilla and silky tannins. Pleasant. Worked well with our meal of grilled chicken, roasted cauliflower, and quinoa with grape tomatoes and roasted yellow pepper.

Touch of tawny color, but still with fruit forward flavor. Taste of cherry and leather with a poop of black sesame

garnet. Nose had fruits, a perfume then a hint of green pepper. Amazingly, I liked. Mouth was medium weight, good.
