Deep amber in colour. Marzipan and marmalade on the nose. Unctuous on the palate but maybe less so than in the past. There is balancing acidity so the wine is not cloying in the mouth. Flavours of honey and orange marmalade on the palate. Not much in the way of complexity but delicious and easy drinking. Drunk over a couple of nights with steamed treacle pudding, various cheeses and by itself.

Deep amber in colour. Marzipan, marmalade and honey on the nose. Unctuous on the palate but with balancing acidity so the wine is not cloying in the mouth. Lingering flavours of tangy marmalade on the palate. Not much in the way of complexity but delicious and easy drinking. Drunk over a couple of weeks with apple and blackberry crumble, with blue cheese and by itself.

Very enjoyable mature Barsac that was delicious with lemon tart and cream. This is the second bottle from a 6-bottle case and we are 'two for two' with corks that disintegrated on opening and were a real pain to remove, not something I would expect from a wine of this age. The merchant assures me storage was good so I wonder if the chateau had a bunch of duff corks as I've seen at least one other tasting note where the same issue was noted.

Tasted at Caviste wine merchant, Hampshire, UK. Bordeaux wine dinner. Served to accompany lemon tart. Medium gold colour. Intense orange and mandarins on the palate. Intensely sweet, although less so when accompanying the lemon tart.

Bolognese and doughnuts (Tim's, SF): Medium gold color. Tight nose - ethyl acetate, freshly sanded wood and nutmeg (fresh new oak), slight hazelnut (oak?), very faint saffron (botrytis), slight waxy smoke (botrytis?), sweet genmaicha. Slightly raisinated berries - more dried than botrytized. Moderately sweet for Sauternes - 120-150g? Medium acid (would like more). Somewhat bitter. Moderately long finish.

Coravin Marathon with Tim, Ben, Michael (Wingtip): (blind) Medium gold, some nail polish (VA?) Waxy saffron botrytis. Candied grapefruit Very sweet - ~250 g/L Sour raisinated grapefruit. Elevated acid (higher than the d'Yquem), and slight bitterness. Seems clearly Sauternes to me, but I didn't get more specific.

Nez assez complexe, rôti, caramel, marmelade d'orange. En bouche l'acidité équilibre les sucres, c'est très bon mais la finale un peu trop amère ternit la dégustation.

Kerosene nose, evolved. Burnt candy. A bit volatile. Very sweet and ripe, just slightly hot on the finish. As with the '08, this could have done with a bit more freshness.

I would prefer this to the 2008 Coutet I tasted with it. This is touch more complex, finer, longer as well. But it also lacks acidity for my taste and is too sweet.

Dark Orange color. Nose of honey, apricot, almond. mouth mirrors the nose. My only complaint is the Bitter orange peel flavor on the back end. What I love about this wine is that is sweet but not syrupy at all.

Tasted blind. Golden brown color. Caramel & banana on the nose. Sweet entry of caramel & banana. Good sweetness in this wine without the typical bitterness usually found in Barsac. Nice.

Burgs 02, 03 and 05: Yellow gold in color. The nose is lacking. Perhaps some oranges. On the palate, there is some texture here, but not a lot of sweetness or fruit. It is pleasant and fine to drink, but nothing more.

Color medium density golden yellow, perhaps showing mild age. Medium depth nose is ripe and pure with peach essence, honey, floral, and spice. For me this is very sweet on the palate with fairly low acidity to freshen it and take it to a higher level. The flavors are delicious with intense peach, dried pineapple, honey and vanilla. Medium finish. An excellent sticky a notch or two shy of outstanding.

Outright delicious. Really nice peach and other complexities on both nose and palate. Very sweet but the acidity makes it difficult to stop drinking it. I though the half bottle would last a week. It lasted two days between three of us.

Very exotic aromas and flavors, not overly sweet. Very intellectual and delicate flavors of peach, pears and melon. Very beautiful nuances. All in perfect balance.

Color is still fairly pale, but beginning to turn toward gold. Nose is pure peach, honey comb and beeswax with a bit of an interesting spice and floral note. Taste is good. More honey comb and beeswax with some vanilla bean creme brulee. Finishes well. My only wish...a little more acidity would be nice, but for the money, this is a solid performer.

Prêt à boire, très caramélisé, peu d’acidité.
Le bouchon se désintègre.

Decanter Bordeaux Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark Hotel, London): Lively, fragrant nose. Not as sweet as the '04, nor as concentrated, but more balanced and more acidity gives this a fresher feel. Sweet pears and melon are present on a long finish.
