Amarone tasting (at my home): Color: Deep ruby red with garnet hues Nose: Warm, ripe on the nose, intense and of great refinement. Notes of dried black fruits, prunes, raisins, figs, chocolate, tobacco, and spices. Palate: Complex, smooth, full-bodied, lots of cherry notes and plum. The tannins are well-integrated and the acidity is balanced. Finish: Long, lingering finish with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and spice. Overall: This is a beautifully made Amarone with a great balance of fruit, tannin, and acidity. It is a complex and elegant wine that will continue to improve with age.

One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Some sediment in the screen. During decant aromas not dissimilar to Jaegermeister came forth. Wine was clear; dark ruby bowl slightly lightening to rim with a small clear halo. After resting, nose of anise, forest floor and stewed prunes. In the mouth: deep black fruit, black licorice, and green bell peppers. As the evening progressed, the bell pepper aroma subsided until it popped back up with a vengeance as the meal ended (about 3.5 hours after decant). While still enjoyable with food, it seemed to be past its prime and starting to decline. The finish was moderately long of the licorice. Time to drink up!

ruby dark, silky on the tongue and a hint of fruit in the nose. The nose is an intensive dark berry scent along with sweet liquorice. Palate is juicy like Amarone is, with some leather, saw dust and coffee notes and a touch of blackberry. Best in these first autumn evenings

Drank with 2004 Amarone Riserva La Mattonara. I gave the Mattonara a 95, it was so smooth and full tasting. I gave the Tommasi a 91. It had a great nose with raisin, clove and leather. It had some tannin which should allow the Tommasi to mellow and improve in 3-5 years. I would not have believed I should wait that long if I had not had the Mattonara for comparison.

This one has actually picked up some nice elements of age. Leather, saw dust and coffee notes. The nose is very pleasing in many way, almost like an old Bordeaux. It's an intensive dark berry scent along with sweet liquorice. Palate is juicy and Amarone like. Quite a lot of alcohol is felt and it warms the palates. It also has a nice finesse of violets and blackberry. Good balance (besides the high alcohol) and length.

This opened up nicely after decanting for about 1/2 hour and paired well with pizza on a quiet Friday night. Good aromatics of fruit and some spicy notes. Medium finish and excellent balance.

Ap: clear dark purple Ar: clean mature dark fruits and integrated oak Medium to full bodied. still some tannic bite left. Slightly hollow body. Medium length
50+5+13+13+7 Better than I expected, but with slightly hollow parts. Good wine now, and I doubt that it improves a lot from this stage

Com aromas frutados, mel, passas e baunilha. No paladar harmoniza muito bem o sabor um pouco adocicado de passas com a madeira bem presente e taninos macios. Acidez bem intensa, muita intensidade e sabor. Um verdadeiro brinde ao paladar. Foi o vinho da noite. Diferente e prazeroso.

I love this wine. Excellent fruit right out of the bottle but explodes with cherries and jam after an hour decant. Will definitely mellow with a few years - the 06 is outstanding and worth the wait

Slow-oxed over six hours, then drank (on and off) over the next five. Air is your friend on this one. Reticent nose on the pop really turns nice, and powerful, with time. Cherry and a bit of spearmint on the nose. Cherry wood, sweet cedar palate. Acidity and tannin give it length. Seriously, if you PnP and drink this within the hour, you'll miss a lot. 91+

Good value ... I bought it in Italy for 12 Euros! Well integrated acid, alcohol, tannins and fruit. Characteristic amarone markers of dark chocolate covered cherries and raisonettes.

Aromas of cherry jam and marzipan. Concentrated fruit (raspberry, dried cherries) but with a soft edge; cloves. Alcohol is well integrated. Died in the corked (not pumped) bottle overnight-- most of the fruit vanished.

Amarone Families (New York Public Library): The nose showed dried cherry, dark chocolate and minerals. On the palate, it was fresh with sweet cherry and a full, broad body. The finish showed dried fruits and minerals.

A very delicate Amarone. Fine smell of dried red fruits and some nutty tones. And lots of warm sun. Full boddied, mild tannins, and long lasting aftertaste of mature plums. Dont drink to warm. A fine wine. Love to give it some years in cellar. But its top to enjoy bit. now.

Medium red, light rim. Nose is delicate with dried nuts, warm soil, leather and cherry pit. Great mouth feel, follows the nose, excellent mid-palate and a good long finish with dark cherries and leather. 15 % alc is perfectly integrated. Not dominated by oak either. Excellent bottle of wine
