  • 2012 - Gary's wine bash! (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant, The Forum Shopping Mall, Orchard Road): Alcohol :: 11.5%
Pristine condition and one of a life time exp. Very deep golden but bright. Everyone thought this is from the 80s from the flavors, color, liveliness etc (i have a wild guess though, 60s) but still, wrong! This is actually from 1952, 57yrs old wine! Oh my, this gotta be one of the most exotic, seductive aromatics profile I have ever tasted: sweet core of various super ripe yellow fruits along with sweet coffee and caramel, dried apricot, peaches, hazelnut and a bit of bitter sweet cocoa follow by chrysanthemum, sweet herbs too. This wine can easily keeps for another 20yrs, the freshness is off the chart. Medium bodied, this has great liveliness and purity, with complex mineral, saline and almost savory sense. Salted plum, peaches, apricot.... old and fresh all together, harmony is best to describe this wine. However, the finish is a tad can't catch up with the nose, entry and mid palate as it has medium length instead of long, lingering though. Perhaps it has not hit the peak yet.... 92-94?
