Twist and go. Black pepper and some leather. Steak sauce and quite tangy, roasted red fruit. Acidity is in the mix here, a citrusy, orange note. Some cooked meat and then the tarry close to the wine. There is some light here showing, too.

This was opened for a party, drank at room temp, what was probably low 70s. There was a good dollop of pepper in the aromatic this time, along with some steak sauce. Reminded me of Santa Lucia Highlands in that respect. My one nit was the alc signature popped through the aroma, which I believe could be eliminated with a cooler serving temp. Seemed ready to drink, too.

Really nicely done. Bob nailed it, tart black fruits, ash, peppery finish with just a hint of herb. Really light on the palate, making it a great sipper. Just a bit of alcohol showing but I'm being picky. Tannins well concealed, just a touch of grip on the finish. Absolutely solid value play and as with all Novy/Siduri wines, not even a sniff of spoof.

Expressive nose of black fruits, ash and pepper. Medium body, bright blackberry, plum, smoke ash and pepper. medium plus finish.

2009 Novy Syrahs: Blindtasting with Adam Lee (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA): Nose started strange, unlike any other in the group, sweet and grapey, but it improved a little with air. Light to medium bodied with fresh red and black fruit. Very nice. (my 5th, group's 3rd)
