NOSE: brett, eucalyptus, mint, dark cherries, medicinal herbs, basil. a dark fruited core wrapped with animal/funky elements. ends slightly floral and sweet.
PALATE: brett, animal fur, flint, the 3 things come straight to my mind. the dense black fruits and acidity are well-balanced. a hintof chocolate, only a hint. well-integrated tannins. long, black tea-like finish. Very good to drink now.

Opened it in the morning and recorked it back to let it breath slowly. Slightly chilled it and drank very well in the dinner. Wonder nose with candy, caramel, cinnamon, and mature blackfruits. Palate is as impressive as the nose. Medium to full body with well balanced fruits, acidity and tannin. Long sweet finish. This baby runrig is at the peak now.

Great typical 'Torbreck' nose with Herbs, tar, horse saddle, tabacco, kaneelstok (Dutch candy stick with cinnamon taste) and rose leaves. Palate very well integrated tannins, sweet smooth and full with candies and herbs. 94p well deserved showing terroir and own style of Torbreck. Better than the 1999 Factor (Torbreck) we had alongside this bottle. Drink now, already on the (slow) decline.

Very pleasing nose with a strong apricot (viognier) note. Very fruity with great balance, silky textures and a lovely, slightly smoky, finish. Very big but still restrained and elegant. A balance of Australian and Cote Rotie styles but more enjoyable than any Cote Rotie I've had recently.

Third time drinking this wine over past 7 years. Holding up great. Decanted 1 hour drank over next 3. Very herbal in a good way. Love the unique and wonderful honey finish the vigonier adds. Need to find more of this.

Forward nose of black olives and dark fruit, cloves dark fruit and flowers; very Cote Rotie style; palate is intense with black fruit with mineral complexity and touch of bacon and smoke; moderate length.

Very pleasing wine. Medium red with notable brick on the rim, touch cloudy. Just touch of brett on the nose, followed by intense red fruit, flowery notes and wood and earthy complexity, The palate flavours are intense, tannins integrated and very good acidity. Very good finish. For my palate this is at its prime.

Almost opaque, black purple colour with black purple hue. Lifted nose of dried apricot dominates the nose. The palate displays an impressive ripe fruit flavour profile of liquorice, apricots and blackberries. Fine grained soft tannins, excellent balance. Long liquorice and apricot aftertaste. -nicks

SMELL: Very earthy and dirt-like. Very old world. TASTE: Beautiful fruit and complexity. Full bodied with loads of flavor. Dark fruit and spice. Very well structured and balanced. Tasted completely different than most younger red wines I've drank. Wish I had some more bottles.

ERI Pre-Auction Tasting (Chicago IL): Wine tasting. Very nice black fruit and spice aromatics. Downhill from there unfortunately with fruit a bit too jammy but also simple.

Blackberry and blueberry aromas, not showing much of the Viognier charm to me today. Immense black fruit on palate, worked well with bold flavored, spicy dinner.

Started off a bit disjointed I thought. Vaguely prune-like at first, it had me a little worried. But after a couple hours of air it came together nicely. Very northern Rhone-styled. the Viognier is very noticeable. Powerfule wine anad very delicious. Will check again on day 2.
Day 2 -- hasn't gone downhill at at all. Very nice. If you don't mind the price, this is great wine. Then again Cote Rotie is not that cheap either.

Red fruit, charcoal, cloves and cinnamon, as well as a light florality. Nicely balanced palate. From a disastrous vintage, this is a good result.

Brett made this wine totally undrinkable, and no amount of air exposure could make it go away.
