CdP blind tasting. Illuminating evening, while there were some nice and complex wines there were also quite a few misses. Issues revolved around either not aging well and becoming pruney, oxidative with cooked fruit aromas or just being too heavy/sweet/alcoholic. TN: This was the first red that convinced me front-to-back. Discrete nose of cool dark fruit, licorice, intermixed with subtle underbrush and earthy elements, everything is very precise. The palate is well judged, medium+ bodied and not over the top (despite 15% Alc), good finish. Good now and can age further. 94-95

Even more delicious with time Paired with bbq steak. Raisins and anise. Great long finish - still has a sweetness and tannins. Has longer aging potential

I haven‘t had this in a few years. It has developped really nicely since my last bottle. Open and radiant, this is showing notes of blackberries, dark cherries and kirsch, some dark notes of soil, some notes of leather/roasted bone marrow. It's full bodied and dense, with excellent mid-palate persistence. As most 2010s, this also has nice medium-high acidity and still medium tannin that is very good quality, it has melted away a little since my last bottle. Long finish. A really excellent CdP from this excellent producer and great vintage. While my personal taste has moved away a little from these wines, this is really excellent.

Smooth tannins, but overpowering alcohol scent. Decanted 2 hours in advance, improved further in the glass, still lots of dark fruit, pleasant to drink.

Red fruit takes center stage but is great spice notes are close by. The wine has fresh aromatics displaying hints of underbrush and flowers. Velvety texture that glides over the palate. Layers and layers of complexity. Entering a great drinking window. Great juice.

I decanted this wine for three hours. Dark fruit, with notes of underbrush, minerality and a touch of tobacco. Wonderful spice notes as well. This wine has great balance. The nose developed more with each glass. Good texture and depth. There is a lot of upside yet to come for this wine. Great juice.

Just about gave up on CdP...this isn't a 100% turnaround, but keeps the wine alive in my universe. Especially at the sub $40 price paid. Cinnamon, caramel, red and black fruit, grilled meat, mineral. Nice acidity, Significant tannin. thinking this has years still

I am not arguing this is the greatest wine on the planet but on this evening, with no decant at all, it was perfect and delicious straight out of the bottle. Classic CNdP flavours but so so fresh. Elegant and mineral. Have 6 left and will enjoy how this ages

Liquorice, camphor, garrigue, mushroom, tea leaves, rose pedal, plum, blueberry, menthol, leather, earth, moss. Finely tuned acidity balances still firm tannins. Never beastly despite tipping the scales at 15%. Peaking now and for the next several years. Enjoy freely.

About 2.5 years after my last bottle, this is still showing pretty young. First a little reticent, but opening up a little in the glass. Pretty complex but slightly muted aromatics of blackberries, dark cherries and kirsch, some dark earthy notes and some animalic notes of roasted bone marrow. It's full bodied and pretty dense, but without being heavy, has nice medium-high acidity and medium+ tannin that is very good quality. Long finish. If this is gonna open up some more, it will be a really great CdP and a spectacular value, even in this region known for good value. (94+)

Darker ruby color with some purple. First slightly reticent, in need of some air. Very beautiful notes of blackberries, kirsch, dark cherries, earth, some flowers, meat, roasted bone marrow and some spices. It's pretty full-bodied but with impeccable balance, has medium-high tannin and medium-high acidity. Great and complex finish. This is still pretty young at the moment, I will give my remaining bottles a few more years but it's already very pretty and I love the vintages' freshness a lot! (94+) Excellent value too.

Delicious dark fruit and cherries and a little spice, silky texture, tannins still very strong- Id hold this at least a couple more years or give it a long decant. For $45 in an expensive category, this is on a relative basis a pretty good deal. 92

94+ pts

Superb. Really enjoyed it. Bright and shiny appearance and quite a dark colour. Strong cherry, raspberry and vanilla notes with a touch of sweetness. Really this is just very successful. Great length. Not too heavy. Is a real delight. Glad I have a case if his stuff and can't see it hanging around too long!

Drank from magnum at Upper West in L.A. Still quite young but very nice upfront berry character with noticeable tannin. Opened nicely over 2 hours and tannins mellowed somewhat giving rise to more pronounced strawberry notes, maybe a bit of camphor. Very nice though and well worth the price of the magnum which was less than $100 thanks to a deal at K&L.

Dark purple wine that lightens at the rim. Big dark cherry and raspberry nose, with traces of oak in the form of vanilla. Similar dark fruit on the palate. Silky tannins balanced with nice acidity. The finish is long and comparable to the palate, with a bitter quality to it. Very pleasant.

Purple but transparent. Ripe berries, sweet cherries and earthy herbs. Juicy fruit palate with modest acidity and tanins. The finish had blackberry notes and became quite syrupy. Drinking well. 5+12+16+7=90

Grand Rhone Tasting (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Moderately dark. The nose shows much more herbaceousness than fruit. Deep cherry fruit, much more brooding than the Charvin, with an element of surmaturite and syrupiness. Some anise complicates things and adds interest. This could use brighter acidity and less alcohol. Too extracted and diffuse.

Opened the previous night, 2 oz poured out, re-corked and placed back in fridge for 12 hours.
Dark opaque red. Nose of leather, plum, garrigue and sage. Tart, juicy tongue and palate, still a bit closed and only showing traces of dark fruit. Somewhat narrow mid-mouth, will medium/medium- acid and a light feel and lift. Finish is medium with earthy tannin.
Needs more time to fill out the mid-palate, but seems at this stage a step behind the '07 and '09 at similar points.

Deep in color, with aromas of fresh cracked black pepper, licorice, jam, blackberry, plum and earth. Round and full bodied, with tannin to age, this will be better after a year or two in the cellar.

taste: very silky and stylish medium feel, but with very good tannins to back it up as well. Well balanced with really good tones of garrigue, lavender, red currants, dark red fruits and incense
overall: This is a real pretty and young CdP. This definitely needs time, but it is very attractive at the moment. Different from its stable mates, but different in a very good way
