Purchased at winery, stored at 55 degrees since purchase. Dark purple-red somewhat cloudy, good legs. Nose of blackberries dark chocolate cigar box with faint cinnamon. Taste of dark fruit ie blackberry cobbler vanilla and a very strong alcohol finish which though not unpleasant was similar to a Central Valley Syrah. Not surprising at 14.9% alcohol. Good mouth tightening tannins over all not dissapointing but I expect more from mountain fruit. 90/100

Dark ruby with mild cloudiness. Dark fruits/berries, cherry, dark chocolate, vanilla, black currant. The tannin and toughness of young Spring Mountain Cab is subdued, there is a sweetness and smoothness to this wine. Good wine, drink now 89-91.

Ten years hasn’t diminished this wine. Sweet cherry, dry finish, nuance of tobacco or smoke. No nose to speak of and not a long finish hence the 92 rating. Very delicious wine and still very much alive.

Nice dark ruby color. Pleasant nose of dark fruits/berries. Very pleasant introduction on the tongue—typical cabernet sauvignon flavors of black currant. Maybe just a tad “sweeter” than normal, but that passes as soon as the wine leaves the tip of the tongue. The thing that I find surprising about this wine is the very tame tannin. My experience is that Spring Mount reds are tannic monsters. Clearly, the tannic content of this wine is apparent. However, that seems to have settled down to provide me with a wonderful wine experience.

Beautiful slight pepper burn on the nose aroma. Smooth, perfect Napa first taste in the mouth. Dirt road, early morning finish that warms the chest. Dry, medium tannins. Almost a root vegetable finish, different, strong, but very good. Classy

No formal notes, unfortunately. Decanted for 2+ hours, drank over the next 90 minutes. This was phenomenal, with great bright red fruit balanced with darker fruits on the mid-palate, very well balanced, sweet, integrated tannins. Just a delight. Wish i had more.

Clear, deep ruby, lot of legs, clean nose, lots of red fruit (red cherry, red currant, a bit of strawberry), balanced palate with same fruits, integrated - very good wine.

We brought this bottle to the Urban Eatery on the north shore of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis to have with dinner. We each had a glass of Chardonnay while we waited for the Terra Valentine to open up. It is like silk in the mouth. Half way through the first glass the tannins dissolved into bliss. A very complex wine that is very drinkable yet will still age for several more years.

Tasted at the winery. My favorite of the TVs we tasted. Purple color. Licorice on the nose. Lighter bodied with good complexity and traditional spring mountain flavors. Tannins are firm and very dry... This needs 5+ years and could turn into a really solid wine.

This has held up for the 13 years. Lots of floral flavor and earthiness to go with the stuffed veal dinner.

Black fruit, eucalyptus, cacao, a bit alcohol forward. Decant 30-60 min. Not very tannic at this point. Drink now.

More tannin than 2007. Needs some time to air and soften.

GEMS of Napa Valley Tasting (Golden Valley Country Club, MN): No notes. I thought this was quite good. Defintely disappointed they didn't pour a mix of their cabs.

Napa Valley Vintners- wines at Wine Bloggers Conference trade tasting; 8/16/2012-8/22/2012 (Portland, OR): Begins with blueberry, bitter chocolate and cassis. The palate shows dried blue fruit, cracked pepper and sage. Rustic and brawny in feel with firm tannin and full finishing notes. Very nice.

Dry, pairs well with a lot of foods. Not very fruit forward, but still bright. Bold flavor. Delicious at this time.
