Flickinger dinner (Chicago, IL): Hands down one of the best bottles of Lafarge I've tasted. This isn't shut down at all -- in fact, it still feels primary, with lovely red berries and fruit dominating the nose and palate. With air, there's an intense strawberry perfume that emerges, and it's fraises des bois or gariguettes to be really specific. Silky texture with such incredible purity of fruit, this is one of those wines that reminds me why I bother with Burgundy. Maddeningly good, and certainly with plenty of aging potential, even if it is outrageously delicious now already.

Domaine Lafarge Clos du Château des Ducs Tasting (NYC): Next to the 2015 this has an equally full, powerful nose but there is a seamlessness to the aromas that are integrated and in harmony. Wow, the palate is showing amazing purity and richness. So sexy and long. A sensational vintage for this wine.

Domaine Lafarge Clos du Château des Ducs Tasting, Seminar and Film (Restaurant Daniel - New York NY): In a magical 15/10/05/99 vertical. Nicely floral and spice with complex red and black berry aromas showing a lot of components, but also with great restraint. Similar flavors with outstanding balance and great length, even if slightly firm for now on its finish. Great now, greater potential. I haven't had this since shortly after release, and like many 2010s has continued to improve from then. Maybe not my favorite of the 4 vintages for today, but definitely the one I'd want in the cellar.

La Paulée Tasting of Lafarge Volnay Clos du Chateau des Ducs (Restaurant Daniel, New York): Light ruby-the palest of 2015/2010/2005 trio. Aromatically, soil takes the lead with deeper pitched red fruit in the background. Light, elegant, and earthy in the mouth. It floats across the palate, coats the entire mouth, and has enough stealthy acidity to penetrate and persist. Fine grained tannins, excellent length. This is refined and subtle. The fruit is reticent right now, but I have no doubt that it will re-emerge over time. There is more than enough structure to carry it forward for at least intermediate aging. Not as in-your-face-easy-to-appreciate or voluminous as the 2015, but still quite beautiful.

Discrete nose of red fruit, licorice, some smoke. Very spicy on the palate, almost peppery, excellent freshness. Elegant mouthfeel, yet punchy. The grand 2010 vintage comes through. This needs time though, best after 2025. 94-95

Barrel Tasting at Domaine Lafarge (Volnay): From bottle at Domaine. Wow, an incredible layered nose of smoky red cherry, dried herbs and florals. The palate is young but absolutely singing with everything in precise, perfect proportion. Terrific complexity and layering. Long. 95-96

Tasted after a lovely flight of Clos des Chênes and next to 1996 Clos du Château des Ducs. Expressive nose - slightly Rhone-like in character with dark fruit, herbs and spices, cured meat, dark flowers. Lovely, fresh, vibrant with generous and pure fruit on the palate. Spicy, very mineral and impressively long. 92-93+

Absolutely stunning nose. Bright red fruit. Floral notes. Elegant. The palate is fruit driven but firm on the finish. So beautiful. So elegant. This is Burgundy to me.

This is an incredible bottle of Volnay. Red fruited. So aromatic with roses and red fruit. Intoxicating. The palate is firm with minerals but loaded with red fruit. A long finish. This is a teenager but showing so much even at this young age. To me, this is Burgundy. Love.

Tasted at domaine. Wonderful spicy nose. Palate is full of fruit. The finish is long and lovely. This excellent and has come together already. 3.9. Burghound suggests at least until 2022 to begin drinking

La Paulée de New York 2013 Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): Lost my notes on the Lafarge wines, but they were all showing nicely, with a nice freshness to the Aigrots Blanc, the Mitans and Ducs were quite nice, and the Chenes was simply fabulous.
