A slightly worrying brown-orange aspect, but the wine is definitely still alive. Nose is quite complex: fruitcake, red currants, red flowers, oil, and minor cigar. Whilst I liked the grainy footprint of tannin in the finish and the distinct lift of life provided by the acidity, there was overall too much swirling sour acidity for this to be a classy experience. Not much substance left. Maybe 86 over 85. If anyone has any more of these I’d decant 1-2 hours to attempt to soften, and drink with a rich sauce dish.

Medium/deep ruby core, pale ruby rim. Medium intense fruity nose, still quite youthful showing blackberry and bilberry fruit. Similar black fruits on the palate, quite juicy and attractive if not very concentrated, some spicy notes. An elegant, medium bodied wine with resolved tannins and medium acidity on a short/medium length finish showing just a few hints of tar. Quaffable, pleasant drinking, probably at its best over the next year or so.

A little tight and acidic early but opened up gradually over time. Meaty and slightly savoury style. Cherry and bacon notes on the nose. Doesn't deliver a massive fruit hit but rather a tight, neat structure that would appear still young as a 5 year old, somewhat surprising given the wine's modest claims in the house line-up at ~e12.0.

Deep ruby core, narrow/medium cherry rim. Aromas of medium intense blackberry and spice, some earthy notes. On the palate a medium bodied wine with medium firmish, but pretty much resolved tannins and moderately intense spicy blackberry fruit and a well balanced, if slightly abrupt, finish. Pleasant, easy drinking, probably at its best now and over the next 12-18 months.

Well-made and fully mature northern Rhone syrah. Lovely rich and juicy table wine.

Simple quaffing and on the edge of having too much tinny raspberrry for my taste
