Fathers' Day dinner at Table at 7. Bottle off the wine list. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, gold colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of straw hay, citrus lemon, pineapple, bit of almond nut. Developed. On the palate, dry, medium acidity (flabby sensation when warmer), medium alcohol (13.5%), medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of pineapple, ripe melon, citrus lemon, honey oil, bit of almond nuttiness, and saline wet stones minerality. Medium+ finish. Good quality. Ripe fruits and nice minerality, though clearly time to drink up. Would probably have been better 4-5 years ago. From the Le Monsard vineyard on the south-facing slope in Mâcon-Bussières.

There has been some bottle variation on the case that I purchased, but the pristine bottles match my previous note. Some bottles have been more mature showing more melon and orange flavors.

Outstanding PQR with lots of life left in it. It is the fourth bottle of case and all have shown well. A nose reminiscent of a mature Chablis 1ere with a dose of salinity and lemon-lime profile. The wine remains structured with zippy acid lending itself nicely to support the brioche finish.

Strong nose with apples ad grapefruit. Lean palate with Nice acidity, Apple and lemon mouth coating, elegant, balanced. Lingering finish. Drinking beautifully atm. No sign of faiding so far.

Complex saline nose, with flowery notes - acacia, cream, a hint of flint. On taste creamy, citrus, round and medium intensity. Great finish, slight acid hence not A category, but nevertheless a refined wine. Lafon continues to impress me with the quality of the wines from Macon. They are more expensive than the usual Macon but worth every penny given their price points.

Comte Lafon's 2010 Maconnais Whites (Vin Vino Wine, Palo Alto, CA): Stinky, reduced nose at first, which blew off a little to reveal some lemon and toast. Medium bodied with high acidity. Dense lemon fruit, minerality and a touch of oak. Palate-coating with a long finish. Most potential of the flight but needs a few years.

A little flabby on the palate. Notes of grapefruit and green apples. Drink up soon.

Burgundy Pas de Deux-Heritiers du Comte Lafon and Jerome Chezeaux (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): A bit of tropical fruit on the nose is misleading. Fairly lean on the palate with citrus and good acidity. This showed the most oak of the 3 vintages but was still very good, striking an excellent balance between some richness and cut.
