  • Dusky mature red.
Popped and poured this was immediately accessible (in contrast to a 2010 DM village Gevrey drunk last week but notes not posted, dull and uninspiring).
The nose has a very savoury, earthy gaminess with a background hint of baking spice and subtle rose florals.
The palate a perfect melange of sweet strawberries and pure limestone mineralite but with breadth and complexity, blood orange, Oolong tea, violets, bright acidity and essentially structurally resolved.
Beautiful mature Burgundy. Surprisingly feminine in its rusticity.

  • Light-medium (-) ruby, translucent, 13%abv. Barnyard and perfumed nose of great pleasure. Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium super silky tannin, medium alcohol and ditto body. Savory attack supported with strawberries, red cherry, tobacco.
Utterly delicious, a lesson in elegance and strength. Fruit balances a savory palate with freshness. Very long bright, almost light-footed yet serious finish. Wine to contemplate and to contemplate with.
    With venison stew: delightful.

  • Dark cerise.
Interesting nose of sweet, dark earth, elements of confection, Turkish delight, sois bois, mirepoix, Sri Lankan spice.
Very pure palate of intense limestone mineralite, framed by roses and violets, spice and animale. Vibrant acidity, unobtrusive structure, this seems to alternate between masculinity and a beguiling femininity. Delicious, cerebral wine. Bravo!

  • Initially very charming with pleasant fruit combined with high acidity. But after some time it sort closed down and became very dark. Hard to judge but seems to want more time in the cellar.

  • Bit dark, just ok.

  • Lovely, lithe Pinot showing the elegance and charm of Gevrey. Has some damp forest-floor vibes with silky sour cherries and maybe some whole bunch characters (olives, smoke) underneath. Lovely primary fruit, doesn't look it's age yet.
There is just a little bit of oak-spice sort of sitting on top of the wine's primary flavours and aromas, which feels a little bit awkward at the moment. Might need more time to integrate.

  • Medium red, lovely nose of ripe cherries, spices, young and tannic gevrey that will still need 3-5 years but very elegant and delicious, decant if you are going to try one today, comes from 4 plots all next to Grand Crus & all over 60 yrs old

  • First sniff is of stinky earth note. As it sits, more floral and intense. Like all Denis Mortet wines I have tasted so far, very good nose, almost "sweet" tone to it. Smooth on entry with good balance of red and black fruits. Notes of red cherry, wet earth, spice, and toasty oak. Firm mid-palate intensity and good length. Fresh acidity typical of this vintage. 13.5% alcohol with no hint of it at finish. Very good balance overall, slightly better than Champeaux 2010, shows good finesse and length from get go. According to the Domaine's website, the wine comes from 4 parcels, Champonnet (279 sq m), Bel Air (81 sq m), Petite Chapelle (31 sq m), and Cherbaudes (12 sq m) with avg vine age of 45 yrs. 3200 bottles produced. 18 months in 100% new oak. Good nose and balance on 2nd day, charming and delicious. Buy more? you bet! 91-94 pts.
