This is a huge wine that needed a good 90 minutes to open up and smooth out. Nice nose of baking spice and strawberry. Almost black in color with long legs. Black fruit, minerals and pepper. Good mouthfeel and long finish. If you like big full bodied wines this will be right in your wheelhouse. In it's drinking window with a lot of years to go.

This is the most amount of OAK I have ever tasted in wine. This was red Bourbon! Somewhere underneath that oak was a very nice wine that was buried alive and still breathing...What a shame. The score is for oak lovers. I would have scored this in mid 80's...Drink? Hold? Whatever

Beautiful, rich, dark, deep and brooding wine. Notes of tobacco, chocolate, dried fig, black cherry jam, a lot of port-like flavors but regular wine freshness and lusciously smooth, mouth coating tannins. Absolutely fantastic. Wish I'd bought more than one bottle.
In a blind tasting I would have guessed a 5-8 year old left bank Bordeaux. Lots of pencil shavings, tobacco, plum, berry, cedar, licorice. Well balanced, vibrant, smooth. Gorgeous!

Impossibly dark red for an 11 year old; could have been a barrel sample, but for the lightness at the rim. Wonderfully complex nose of dark fruits, vanilla, tobacco and earth. On the palate this wine shows its massive size; this is a huge, Mouton-like behemoth of a wine. The tannins are still very present but they are ripe and not at all raspy. Flavours of blackberry and raspberry dominate are backed up with notes of Asian spices and hints of leafiness. Rich and mouth-filling with an long, long finish, this comes across as a young, almost unformed, Napa Cab or Washington Syrah. But this is in fact classically Toro, whose harsh climate produces bold fruit layered over firm structure. Bordering on over-the-top, it remains just in bounds but will no doubt become more tamed with a few more years in the cellar. This one is destined for the long haul, an easy decade or more. Absolutely delicious, but only for palates that can appreciate a bigger style! www.advinetures.ca

Friends brought this to our 5/24/13 grilled steak dinner party. It had a rich, expressive bouquet of floral, black cherry, cocoa, mocha and spice aromas. The palate was dense and rich with flavors of mocha, black cherry, burnt toast, ash and spice.
