3/12. This is absolutely singing currently. Bright ruby to garnet at the rim. Sweet fruited, spicy mid to full red fruit with a touch of emerging sous bois. Really all about the precise and finely crystalline sweet red fruit though. So moreish. ****

6/12, vg cork. Pale/medium garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Aromatic, pure strawberry fruit, touch of game. Medium bodied, pure red fruits, touch of spice, soft tannins, quite gamey now across the mid-palate, good length harmonious finish. Excellent, drinking well, more mellow and secondary and less striking and fruit-forward than in its youth.

Wow, my first Fourrier and it didn't disappoint- I think solid value even around $110. It was the type of wine that readily trades outward expressivity for complexity, but it certainly wasn't shy, and it was pretty amazing how each of the many varied elements were so clearly delineated and identifiable (at least for me, when compared to some other similarly-priced Burgundies!)
Fairly gentle but super beautiful nose with a lot going on- little hints of gamey barnyard funk, cedary woodsmoke, cinnamon, and sage mingled playfully with fresh blueberry, plum, and violets. The nose is mostly very high-toned and although the fruit itself showed on the slightly dark side, it was lifted and energetic rather than feeling "deep" or noticeably ripe. (I like that "depth" found in even warmer vintages too, but this was a beautiful middle-ground.)
On the palate- more electricity than the nose let on. Super zippy red fruit, raspberry, strawberry, more violet florals with a gentle mineral/herbal baritone. The palate itself felt less complex than the nose, was missing some of the gamey tones, but the acidity was beautiful and lingering (maybe a /pinch/ of tartness peeking out above the fruit, but mostly extremely well-integrated). The tannins were initially in the background, but they increased their presence over time; plenty of chalky texture left.
This could age a while longer, but in an amazing spot now. Excellent with paté too, although frankly I liked it more without food, just contemplating all the little subtleties- with food it felt a little less multidimensional.

1/12 If there’s currently a better village MSD than Fourrier’s 2010 I’d like to try it. Sweet fruited, spicy, mid to full red fruit coupled with autumnal influences evolving towards the meaty. Beautifully balanced between youth and maturity. Really lovely village wine.****

2/12. Very good cork. Decanted 1/2 hour. Pale/medium garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Aromatic, quite intense with piercingly pure red fruit, florals, a hint of soil. Medium bodied, pure red cherries, gently sweet, fresh acidity, quite fine boned, decent length fresh finish. Lovely.

Pale/medium ruby/garnet core, pale garnet rim. Aromatic, pure red cherry fruit, intense, youthful, touch of celery, florals. Medium bodied, red cherries, creamy edge, very fine tannins, good depth, fresh acids, impressive length on the finish. Not overly complex but delicious, as usual.

Deliciously crunchy red fruit. Light and pretty with a long and delicate (and tangy) aftertaste. My last bottle. If it's this good, you have to be greedy to wait in the hope of something better. dg

Dark, wet soil inflected nose with crabapple and deep raspberries and plum. The soil tones make it true to what I imagine Morey Saint Denis terroir should transmit. Serious acidity makes it a great food partner. May be holding back a bit, I think I'll let my last bottle go another couple years.

Its best showing yet - perhaps the Zalto bordeaux glass helped - this was stunning - pure, penetrating cherry fragrance, a touch of sweetness, some tang

Refined, delicate and feminine. Light, bright colours, savoury-sweet, and a long soft finish. It's lovely now, and no doubt will be a different sort of lovely in 10 years, but why wait? vg+

This is coming together nicely. Very pure and bright, blackberries, strawberry-rhubarb pie, tar, sour cherry and mineral. Medium concentration, fresh red fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity, nicely integrated tannins and medium long clean finish. Neither concentration nor layered but very pure and pretty. A good example of the 10 that is enjoyable but will need another ten years to add the tertiary notes.

Delicious and fresh, with the crunchy red fruit that seems to be everywhere in Fourrier's wines. However, this one lacks a bit of the depth and fine tannin seen in the other 2010s. Still, a very nice wine.

La Paulée de New York 2013 Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): Lost my notes on the Fourrier wines, but these were stellar across the board. Tried the Gevrey, Morey Solon, Gevrey Moines, and Gevrey Jacques. Great purity of fruit, with the Clos Saint Jacques being the most brooding of the bunch. The Combes aux Moines was the highlight for me; what a fabulous wine!

La Paulée de New York 2013 (Metropolitan Pavilion, NYC): Oh boy. I much prefer this to the GC. More forest floor, no bubblegum cherry fruit. Cooler spring water, light cherry, tiniest bit of tannin and heat. Almost my favorite at the table.

Tighter and lighter than I was expecting - chiselled, fine, powdery cherry fruit on the palate. Right now, not as impressive as other recent vintages, but it is early days

Focus on 2010 Burgundy- The 2013 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): True to its commune, blacker fruit than the Gevreys. More earthy as well. Leaner, higher acid, harsher feel and overall, not nearly as good as any of the Gevrey wines.
