Nice cedar on the nose. On the palate the fruit is intense, dark, rich and creamy. Has an alluring smoky quality as well. Big tannins, very firm, but also fine. Medium to full body. A huge fruity wine but a streak of powerful acidity keeps it lively and balanced. Amazing how California Rhone-y it is without containing a single Rhone varietal. Guess that's Paso for you.

Solid dark purple core. Moderate plus viscosity. Aromas of plum, blackberry and cassis are aggressive on the front. Black licorice, cardamom and star anise weave their way into the mix. cherry cola and chocolate notes round out the nose. Tight and complex on the palate suggesting the youth of this wine. Dark fruits with expressions of blackberry, plum, and tart cherries. Woody notes; star anise and sarsaparilla. Tannins seem a touch on the green side. The finish lingers with a mineral/metallic touch. Needs time and air! Astonishing what a difference from the 2008 (which was bottled under Four vines). Hoping this will develop.
