a pretty wine, but not for everyone. maybe would not improve any more but should still be good for the next 10 years? very delicate on the nose, with red fruits dominating. In the mouth, there is some meat and with the fruit taking a back seat to the secondary flavours.

Annual Christmas Dinner at the Ngu's 2013 (Meyer Road): 30 minutes in decanter and then I poured back into the bottle. A bit of sediments seen. Typical earthy Burgundy nose which opened up with more air to reveal some perfume and floral scents. Smooth and elegant on the entry, with a restrained sweetness. Juicy acidity. Quite a bit of pepper and spice also. Holding up well, may last another 4-5 years.

I downed a glass of this in a hurry - not really enough time to appreciate it fully. Still though, it was a pleasant wine at a pretty nice place. The nose was quite typical - violets, cherries and raspberries and a bit of earth, all rather high-toned for a 2000. I liked the palate. There was still some structure to it, but it was clearly mellowed, with sweet, round flavours of cherry and berries that echoed the nose, along with a barely there earthiness and a nice floral after-tone, all couched in juicy acidity. Smooth, elegant, this was very agreeable indeed, and it had a nice bit of depth to hold the palate as well. Nothing earthshaking, but this was a very competent, enjoyable Volnay. This will not be a long-distance wine, but it is enjoyable now and should continue to be so over the next 5-6 years at least.

Bright and delicious cherries and raspberries with impressive length and no distractions. Very pleasurable. One could criticize as monochromatic but what a nice color.

A gift from David Bueker. Drinking beautifully right now with bright cherry and raspberry flavours and hints of cocoa complemented by more developed leathery and black tea notes, tannins mostly resolved with bright acidity keeping it light on its feet. Really delicious and great with pork dumplings.

fruity, light mint, perhaps a bit of chocolate,a bit pale towards the end. Otherwise a good wine ,went well with my steak with musgroom and trufle oil. I don´t think this rather fine burgundy has many years left.

High-tones red and black fruit, touch of oak on the nose and palate. Bright acidity and crisp fruit. Drinking well now, but has life for 5-8 more years.

Medium cherry color. Lovely full nose with an array or red fruits, minerals and iron shavings. Juicy and fresh on the palate, with good acidity and medium body. Good intensity to the rasberry, cherry, licorice flavors, with subtle hints of chocolate. Supple with a long, fresh and juicy finish. Will drink well the rest of this decade, but already ready. One of the best 2000s I've had.

Setting: University Club / Clive Coates tasting Appearance: bright, medium+ intensity ruby-garnet core, very narrow violet rim Nose: clean, shy, cocoa, tea-green tea, mineral-copper notes, candied cherry and cola notes Palate: dry, average+ acidity, higher alcohol, light-sweet oak treatment with higher tannin level, fuller body with long finish, lively fruit notes with good balance, flavour profile of earthy-leather and mineral notes Comments: drinks very well now, fuller & lusher style, but perhaps not enough acidity to keep for long term Clive Coates' Comments: weaker rainy vintage, drinking window from 2006 on

Blueberry verve, musky cheddar, skunkspice, and kerosene, with a touch of vanilla to keep it dishonest.

Meh. Hardly any nose. Not very remarkable on the palate either.
