Limited notes taken. Medium gold and showing its youth with ripe pineapple, mango, dried apricots, mandarin oil, honeysuckle, and marigold. The acidity does a great job of balancing the sweetness.

Golden. Mango, hint of citrus and passion fruit, honey, loads of vanilla and oak, beeswax/fresh cut iris stem, touch of warm spice. Light acidity on the front end, long sweet finish, full bodied

With a strong floral note that adds to the candied orange, apricot and honey coated pineapples in the nose. Lush, sweet and rich, with a blast of acidity that really keeps this going. Over the past few years, this estate has really upped their game.

A very nice sweet treat here, with loads of fresh, sweet, ripe, honeyed tropical fruits and vanilla. There is ample freshness in the finish to give all the sugar a lift.

Really luscious and full-bodied, with wonderful tropical fruit and honey, but perhaps not the greatest focus or elegance. A delicious drink for the money, though.

2011 UGC Bordeaux Tasting (Bentley Reserve, San Francisco CA): Moderate intensity on the nose with good mix of density and minerally elegance; palate is elegant, less complex than the best but a fabulous effort, enjoyable. Overall this is showing really well now, very good balance, and would be a wonderful sauternes to buy and drink young and over the short to medium term (indeed, maybe the best of the lineup today to drink now). A very good value bottle. 90

Bordeaux 2011 from bottle (Park Hyatt Hotel, Washington D.C.): Well, now, I really liked this from barrel and the feeling from bottle is the same. An excellent showing that may merit a higher score with time in bottle. Why? The palate has lots of energy, salty freshness and zing. With lovely botrytis derived notes of black tea, orange peel in cinnamon. I would have given it a higher score if it were not for a somewhat thin finish, but overall I love the elegance and freshness.

Lots of barley sugar on the nose - a bit single minded; thick and viscous. Flavoursome. Not in the same league as the Suduiraut tasted before. Good potential. 91-93

UGC 2011 (The Drake Hotel - Chicago, IL): Another incredibly dense Sauternes with too little acid. Kinda boring.
